This document discusses the design of a device called Echo. Echo is intended to amplify sound from an iPhone without needing to be plugged into a power outlet. It utilizes renewable energy to power the amplification and also preserves the iPhone's battery charge. The document explores initial design sketches and considers materials like polycarbonate that could be used. It positions Echo as a hybrid product that combines portability, amplified sound, and preserved battery life into a single device for listening to music in any location.

This
dock
is
built
to
amplify
sound

Iphone

while
also
preserving
the
charge

phone

clean

initial
sketches
were
focused
on
finding
an
attractive
design
that
would
work
for
our
concept
as
well
as
finding
a
plausible
shape
to
amplify
the
iPhone’s
mono
speakers
in
an
efficient
manner.

is
a
hybrid
device
which
utilizes
key
features
from
the
two
types
of
docks.
The
traditional
iPhone
pictured
to
the
left
while
a
great
device
is
only
efficient
if
you
have
a
power
outlet
nearby
or
if
the
model
you
have
has
the
option
to
be
powered
by
batteries.
The
other
dock
pictured
below
the
traditional
dock
while
it
does
not
require
any
energy
to
operate
it
is
a
bit
larger
than
it
needs
to
be
and
does
not
offer
a
solution
to
the
diminishing
power
due
to
the
music
being
played.
In
order
to
have
the
best
of
both
worlds,
amplified
sound
and
preserved
battery,
a
new
device
had
to
be
created
to
benefit
those
who
wanted
to
have
louder
music
without
the
need
to
be
tethered.
