Samatha meditation: calms the mind

concentration and positive emotions.
Samatha meditation is practiced to
attain higher concentration of the
mind, peaceful and blissful living and
the cessation of suffering.

way. We gradually realize that all
thoughts are impermanent, linked with
dissatisfaction, and impersonal.

Samatha Meditation (Bhavana,

Vipassana Meditation (Insight Meditation,
Satipatthana)-The goal is to observe our
Body and Mind (Rupa and Nama)- as they
truly are until the Wisdom arises. It will
realize that the Body and Mind are not we
nor belong to us.
