Outlines can help organize the information given, whether in written or
spoken form. An outline is the most basic form of note-taking.
Success with note-taking depends on being engaged and actively
listening.
A classic outline uses a system of capital and lowercase letters and
numbers to indicate the relative importance of different ideas.
Dashes or bullet points may also be used to convey your notes in the
outline. The way you create your outline is your decision.

The student divides the paper into two columns:
•The Cornell Method is a system for taking, organizing and reviewing notes.
•The strategy involves learners dividing their paper into two columns with a
row across the bottom.
•The smaller column i.e Cue or Key Column the left side is for keywords and
questions .
• An outline or Note –taking space that helps you pinpoint where you’ve
recorded each bit of information.
•At the bottom of the page, write a brief summary of the content on the page.

organize notes.
•How does it work?
•Divide your page into separate columns.
•Give each column a heading or a label. Think about how you want to organise
your notes to identify the most useful headings.
•Enter notes under the relevant column.
•Reduces amount of writing necessary. Provides easy review mechanism for
both memorization of facts and study of comparisons and relationships.

An advantage of this format is that it can help you to visually see how the
information is connected that is different from the Cornell or outline
methods.
To take notes with the mapping method, follow these five steps:
•Write down the main topic.
•Add and connect subtopics to the main topic.
•Connect supporting ideas to the subtopics.
•Add further details and facts to the supporting ideas.
