Clearly, connected home and IOT is the theme! In 2008, there were already more "things" connected to the Internet than people. By 2020, the amount of Internet-connected things will reach 50 billion.
The connected home counts already for 25% of the Internet of Things.
My name is Domenico Crapanzano, I am the CEO of Domotz.
Domotz is a technology company which collects real time data in a home or an office. We produce a little probe {show the Domotz box in my hand} and a software that gather and process intelligence from every single piece of electronics which it finds in a home or an office.
Our Domotz is used in thousands of homes, and has been recently selected by Best Buy in the US to provide professional remote assistance and monitoring services to tens of thousands of homes all over the United States.
We also recently purchased Fing, the number one “networking scanning” app in the market. Pressing just one button, you discover what connected devices are around you.
Fing has 5 stars on the Apple and Google play store and over 10M downloads since it opened doors five years ago.
Fing users around the world press that button 650,000 times a day, discovering and identifying over 4M new devices every day. That’s almost 1.5 billion new devices per year which we at Domotz discover. We definitely “get” a lot of data!
So when we joined SBC we thought data is at the basis of the insurance industry. What better than Real Time data coming from a smart home to allay then those fears of the unknown in your house or office? Knowledge and awareness must be a game changer!!
The immediate benefit is to build a more positive and more frequent relationship between the insurance and its customers resulting in a higher and longer lasting retention rate and customer satisfaction.
The other important benefit is to collect data which over time could result in better customer profiling and, when linked to a claim history, eventually result in better underwriting capabilities. thus enhancing dramatically its pricing accuracy and the claim process.
