I need to find the most current industry research data for this client proposal.
Where did I put that spreadsheet for the sales call?
Hang on, I think it’s on my hard drive…or was it OneDrive? Maybe it’s on SharePoint
instead?”
I can’t find our health insurance claim form.
Where did I put that document I was working on?

We all struggle finding information…

10. We are faced with multiple, distinct search
experiences:
Context and application-switching to find information
Each entry point has a different search UX
Results are partial, and inconsistent across applications
and there are just too many results to dig through
to find the right one.
Why is searching at work frustrating?
11. We want searching at work to be
as easy as searching the web.
We want results that are relevant
and personalized.
We want answers to our questions, not just more
links.
Our expectations have changed…
12. As a result…
of our time at work is spent just
looking for information.20%

Microsoft Search Administration

34. When a user searches, Microsoft Search processes the query and parses
search intent from larger phrases, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to learn
common superfluous phrases users add to their queries that don't impact
their search intent
For example, when a user searches for "how to change my password" we
extract the less important words from the query and trigger based on the
relevant ones like "change password".
The search results that the user has permission to see are presented on the
search results page. Microsoft Search uses intelligent ranking algorithms to
order results based on relevance.

McKinsey Global Institute The social economy: Unlocking value and productivity through social technologies
July 2012 | Report
If you’re hiring 5 people, only 4 show up for work
The average interaction worker spends an estimated 28 percent of the workweek managing e-mail and nearly 20 percent looking for internal information or tracking down colleagues who can help with specific tasks. But when companies use social media internally, messages become content; a searchable record of knowledge can reduce, by as much as 35 percent, the time employees spend searching for company information. Additional value can be realized through faster, more efficient, more effective collaboration, both within and between enterprises.
Kathrine
Our vision for search in Microsoft is that it is one capability, coming to every Microsoft 365 experience and leveraging the collective knowledge and technology that we have built up across many teams in search, graph and AI into one platform.
Search that’s consistent and familiar, but contextual to the app you’re using
Search that is intelligent and personalized to you and your organization
You know about modern search in SharePoint, and you heard about Bing for Business.
Then there’s the search box in Windows and OneDrive
All of these are becoming Microsoft Search.
I can’t emphasize this enough..
