1. Personal Statement about Scholarship Interests
I was drawn to nursing for many reasons but the chief reason was I love helping
others. This continues to be my driving philosophy in teaching nursing. I am drawn
to simulation in nursing education for the same reason. I want to help students
understand a concept. I fell in love with simulation in my MSN program and my
love for it has continued to grow. I learn by doing and simulation helps students
learn by doing. It is a great educational tool that is often underused. I want to
complete each conceptwith a simulation scenario that pulls together all the details.
Surprisingly I also love teaching on line. It presents a new and different challenge.
I enjoy communicating with my students and assisting them in achieving their
goals. I am dedicated to student success. Icall each student in my online classes to
offer a personal touch and to assure them I am there for them. I would love to
pursue research in this area to see what traits are best for online learning and
teaching. It would be an interesting study.
