stereogenic centers and is sold as an enantiopure molecule with

stereoisomers) and the natural product is the (-)-enantiomer –
analgesic activity

Ephedrine has two stereogenic centers, exhibits enantiomerism
and is unichiral ; (1R,2S)- and (1S,2R)-enantiomers are designated
ephedrine, (1R,2R)- and (1S,2S)-enantiomers as pseudoephedrine
In April 2004, USFDA banned the sale of ephedrine and dietary
supplements containing ephedrine due to serious adverse effects

181 years after compound was first isolated

viz. mydriasis, salivary secretion , etc.
