2. EARTHING
• The main objective of earthing system is to ensure the safety of
life and the property from hazards. It also protects from
electrical fires and electrical shocks. An earthing is circuitry
which connects parts of the electric circuit with the ground.
Earlier we used conventional earthing system, which the
combination of salt and charcoal. Now it is replaced with more
advanced system called chemical pipe earthing.
3. CHEMICAL PIPE EARTHING
• Electrode is made of galvanised Iron. So which allows smooth
flow of current and enhances the conductivity.
• There is no salt using in the chemical pipe earthing system,
because salt is a corrosive compound.
• Here, we use a chemical compound(Bentonite) to protect the
electrode.
• Maintainenace not required.
4. Step-1
Make the pit in 500x500x200mm. then bore a
hole (Dia=100mm,Length=3.5m) in the centre of
pit.
5. Step-2
Fill Bentonite(Chemical compound) in hole up to
500mm and fill the water. Bentonite-Keep the
humidity level in the soil, which enhances the
conductivity of soil.
6. Step-3
Pour water in to hole and wait for 6-10 hours to
dry out or pass water in to
underground.(Consider soil condition).
8. Step-5
Fill the hole with the mixture of water and
bentonite completely and pour the water, tighten
the compound.
9. Step-6
The GI strip of dia 50x6 laid into a trench 20mm
below the ground, one end of GI strip connect
with top of electrode in parallel to the projection
and other end of GI strip connected to
equipment.
