The meeting to start at 11.00am with a word of prayer
Planned activities as per the 1st
meeting conducted by the Sauri Schools.
1. The reading tent will be conducted on 30th
June 2015 at Nyamninia Primary School from 8.30 am
2. Each school will present 32 pupils from class 3 to 7 of both Genders
3. Areas to be tackled will include :
Reading competition for class 3,4,5,6
Composition Writing competition for class 4,5,6
Kiswahili Kusoma for class 4,5,6
Insha Kiswahili for class 4,5,6
Debate for class 7
4. All programs will run concurrently from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon
5. Adjudicators will be derived from the teachers who participate in the reading tent
6. 2 External adjudicators will be engaged to eliminate bias
7. Lunch will be provided by MVP and will be taken concurrently
8. Transport for the pupils from Bondo and Ebusakami will be provided by MVP to and from the Venue
9. Varied awards will be provided that include school bags, Dictionaries, Kamusi, Atlas, Pencils, A4 books,
Clip boards and rulers.

THE COMPETITION
Few changes made:

1. Instead of writing Insha and composition as planned earlier, the teachers preferred spelling competition
whereby pupils per class will be subjected to the same spelling words per class and should spell them
correctly within 1 minute as done by a TV show program in citizen TV known as Know Zone.
2. Gift vouchers will no longer form part of the awards,instead we will use school bags
3. Instead of Bibles, the pupils to receive Dictionaries, Kamusi and Atlas as this are more relevant to them at
this stage and syllabus.
Class 3 – Reading Competition
1 book to be selected and a paragraph of about 5 lines to be selected ( KNLS)
A marking scheme to be formulated to be used( KNLS)
3 Adjudicators to be selected for this class ( Committee)
Each school to provide 4 pupils per school so a total of 32 pupils ( Schools)
Class 4, 5, 6 – Reading Competition
1 book to be selected for each class and paragraph selected as per grade ( KNLS)
A marking scheme to be formulated to be used( KNLS)
6 Adjudicators to be selected for this class ( Committee)
Each school to provide 5 pupils per school so a total of 120 pupils ( Schools)
Class 4, 5, 6 – Kusoma Kiswahili Competition
1 book to be selected for each class and paragraph selected as per grade ( KNLS)

4 Adjudicators to be selected for this class ( Committee)
Each school to provide 3 pupils per school so a total of 72 pupils ( Schools)
Class 4, 5, 6 – Spelling Competition
As per primary school syllabus and class, select 10 words to be spelled by each pupil within 1 minute (
KNLS)
Select a theme as per the syllabus per class e.g. if you select Animals as theme then they should spell
different animals e.g. Elephant, tiger etc( KNLS)
A marking scheme to be formulated to be used( KNLS)
6 Adjudicators to be selected for this class ( Committee)

DEBATE – CLASS 7
The teachers agreed on public debate and came up with 2 topics to be tackled.

Each school to provide 4 pupils per school so a total of 32 pupils (Schools)
The pupils will be very well conversant with the roles of the governor, senator and women rep as they will apply
their topic to the roles of these 3 government officers
Role of speakers,chairman of debate, timekeeper etc to be selected randomly from the participants
Randomized selection was done to identify which school will prepare and present which topic.

All materials to be on the venue by Monday the 29th

All schools should be at the venue before 9.00am
Inform them to be responsible and take care of themselves and any materials they will come with
