WHAT PriMED IS
PriMED is a Project funded by the Italian Ministry of University (MIUR) involving 12 Italian
Universities and 10 Universities of OIC Area (ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION)
PriMED aims to enhance the scientific cooperation among Mediterranean Universities,
creating a network of students, scholars, professors inspired to the method of “learning
by sharing”. The general goal is to strengthen dialogue, integration’s policies and to
contrast the violent radicalization processes.
Main activities are:
Training of Public Administrations officers involved in integration activities and de-
radicalization projects as Governorates, Prefectures, Prisons administration (Italian and
OIC Countries) Law Enforcement, Schools, public health.
Study trips for Italian and Oic Countries students
Training of religious personnel in order to support integration policies
Common Seminars, workshop, meetings to strengthen the dialogue and share
experiences

There is positive radicalization, which could also be violent: what
about the conflicts for the independence against colonialism?
Radicalization is, at least, a double sense process: it is possible to
come back
Radicalization is not a lift that lead certainly to a final floor called
“terrorism”: extreme, violent radicalization is not obliged
Sometimes radicalization is a wall against terrorism
Radicalization process: when it could
not be completely negative

Terrorism risks: who can help us
If we have to contrast the violent radicalization that lead to
terrorism; if we have to stop or re-integrate foreign fighters;
if we have to prevent a “lone-wolf” attack, we need a
complex mix of actions:
Security and intelligence actions, of course;
Social, economical investments;
Psychological assistance....
But, above all, we need to strengthen the
COMMUNITIES
