Uses: Independent reading for all ages and grades.
Feedback: Feedback is going to be based on each teacher. Teachers can assign
reading assignments and then give independent studies to go along
with the reading that has been assigned. Teachers can assign reading
assignments based on the student individual reading scores.
Higher Learning: Teachers are able to reach every student with tons of grade-specific,
high-interest topics across languages and genres.
Ease of Use: Students love EPIC. This is really a platform where students
actually read a book, and it is a book that they choose and like.
Students can search through this website very easily and securely.
Approved. The app will
be useful in a reading
classroom and will get
students excited to read.

Uses: GoNoodle is used for brain breaks, and short bursts of physical activity. It
provides videos, games and activities that are physically active. These things
are displayed on the big screen and run by the teacher.
Feedback: The teacher can provide feedback as the students are engaging in the video.
Higher Learning: This app is good for behavior management, classroom management, game-
based learning and instructional design. It is useful for a brain break for the
student.
Ease of Use: The app needs a strong connection to the internet, or the videos will be
choppy. Students love the choice that this website gives them in order to pick
which brain break they would like to participate in.
Approved. Gonoodle is
able to give the students a
brain break while
teaching them the
material.

Uses: A learning platform to engage your class with interactive lessons.
Feedback: Instant feedback from every student in class.
Track learning progress over time for formative assessments.

Higher Learning: A lot of Kahoots are already made by other teachers teaching the
same subject material that the current teacher is teaching.
Depending on what you are teaching is going to be dependent on if
higher learning occurs.
Ease of Use: Students absolutely love this app, and it is fun to use in class.

Uses: ClassDojo is a simple classroom management app for teachers, parents and students.
This app is designed to help teachers, improve student behavior and communicate more
effectively with parents. Using ClassDojo, parents feel more engaged with what their
children are learning. Teachers might have better feedback from those parents about
what children are doing at home.
Feedback: There can be instant feedback depending on the teacher.
Higher Learning: This app motivates students to want to be better. It also shows the parent where their
child is and allows them to push the student while they are home.
Ease of Use: It is easy to use, there aren’t many tabs to navigate. It’s also free and can be used on any
device.

Feedback: Feedback can be instant.

Ease of Use: Students absolutely love this app. It appears the students are playing a “game” but are
learning. Since this learning app is considered a “game” by many students, students pick up
quickly on how to use this learning app.

useful for a math and

fun while learning.

Uses: This app is a fast-paced game that teaches students about nutrition, healthy recipes
and different kinds of foods. This is also used for quick thinking

winning or losing the game.
Higher Learning: This can help the students to get a brain break while also teaching them healthy
choices. It’s a different way to apply the things they have learned in nutrition.
Ease of Use: It’s Free and is compatible with android, ipad, iphone, ipod touch, and kindle fire.
The app itself is easy to understand and navigate.

Ease of Use: At first getting this app set up can be a challenge, but after getting it set up, everything is only one
click away.

useful for a school.
The platform used will
help administer
instruction,
assignments and many
other things.

Uses: This app tracks your calories as well as your workouts. It shows you total calories and breaks
them down into food groups. It shows the students what their lifestyle looks like as far as
nutrition goes.
Feedback: This gives you instant feedback and keeps track of the feedback given.
Higher Learning: This takes what the student learns in the classroom and helps them apply it in the real world.
It gives them a reality check when they see what their lifestyle choices look like. It shows
them how calories work and the benefits of each of the nutrition factors.
Ease of Use: It is easy to use and free. You enter the food, and it converts the nutritional value. The only
problem is that it doesn’t always have every food on there. You may just have to change
things slightly to get what you ate.
Approved. My Fitness
Pal will be useful in
Health education. It is
a teaching tool that
allows students to
track their health.

Uses: This app for learning is really for the “teacher” side of everything. This app allows for teachers
to communicate with parents about their students through alerts & announcements, secure
document delivery (electronically sending confidential student information), events &
appointments, and forms and permission slips.
Feedback: One of the districts I worked for did allow for students to join Bloomz with their teacher for
PBIS. This allowed for students to have behavior goals that they were working for, and the
teacher could share feedback with the student on how they were doing trying to obtain that goal.
Higher Learning: Again, this is geared more towards the “teacher” aspect, but with high learning it does allow
students to get on this app to monitor themselves on their behavior.
Ease of Use: Bloomz is tricky to start using. If either side is not a “tech savvy” person, then Bloomz can be
daunting.
Approved. This app is
useful for all subjects.
It will allows teachers
to communicate with
parents in a safe and
easy way.

11. Link: BrainPOP Jr.
Uses: This app has a science, Health, social studies, math, art, technology and reading and writing
tabs that provide videos, quizzes, activities, and other teaching tools for many topics.
Teachers can also make lesson plans off the topics and subjects addressed. There is also an
opportunity to create quizzes as well.
Feedback: There is instant feedback when taking the quizzes and within the activities.
Higher Learning: The app is a fun way to learn. It is more appealing than reading about something or listening
to a lecture. It would be beneficial to keep the students' attention. It’s something that will be
used more as a tool within your classroom. Not the primary lesson.
Ease of Use: The website is easy to operate and free! It is labeled and appealing to the eye. The only
problem that could come up is that it needs Wi-Fi to be able to operate.
Approved. Brain
Pop jr. is useful for
many subject. It
provides an
alternative way to
teach several
different subjects.
