Let’s talk about what makes ODB better and different from our competitors since ODB is NOT A STAND ALONE PRODUCT BUT PART OF A ECOSYSTEM.
Deep Office integration enables desktop and real-time co authoring and in app sharing ,empowering you start a doc on one device and seamlessly finish it on another
Access Team sites directly from OneDrive.
Copy files directly to SharePoint Libraries.
Sync Team Sites and Shared Folders to your device using OneDrive sync client
You should be utilizing the Next Gen client for all setup unless you have one of the following situations:
You are utilizing OneDrive on Windows 8 or 8.1
You are syncing with SharePoint Server that is located on premise
If you haven’t used OneDrive in the past and would like to setup OneDrive for Business for the first time you can do the following:
Select the Start button, search for “OneDrive”, and then open it:
In Windows 10, select the OneDrive desktop app.
In Windows 7, under Programs, select Microsoft OneDrive.
In Windows 8.1, search for OneDrive for Business, and then select the OneDrive for Business app.
When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your work or school account, and then select Sign in to set up your account.
If you already have a personal account signed in to OneDrive, you’ll want to use OneDrive Settings to add a work or school account.
In the taskbar navigation area, right-click the white OneDrive cloud icon and select Settings.
(You might need to click the Show hidden icons arrow next to the notification area to see the OneDrive icon. If the icon doesn't appear in the notification area, OneDrive might not be running. Click Start, type OneDrive in the search box, and then click OneDrive in the search results.)
In Settings, select Account, and then select Add an account.
When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your work or school account, and then select Sign in to set up your account.
Key points in OneDrive Setup:
There are two screens in OneDrive Setup that are helpful to watch for:
On the This is your OneDrive folder screen, select Next to accept the default folder location for your OneDrive files. If you want to change the folder location, select Change location - this is the best time to make this change.
On the Sync files from your OneDrive screen, choose the folders you want to sync, and select Next. This helps control the amount of space OneDrive files take on your computer and conserves bandwidth during sync processes. You can change this later in Settings, but this is a good opportunity as well.
Enjoy OneDrive for Business -
You're all set. Your OneDrive for Business files will also appear in File Explorer window in the OneDrive – [Company Name] folder.
You now have a new blue cloud icon in your notification area and your work files are synced to your computer. Your blue cloud icon will appear as OneDrive – [YourTenantName] when you hover over the icon.
Any time you want to change the work or school folders you sync on your computer, right-click that blue cloud icon in the taskbar notification area, and select Settings > Account > Choose folders. Find other information about your account and change other OneDrive settings from here.
Browse and insert attachments in Outlook directly from OneDrive accounts. (MODERN ATTACHMENTS)
Set user level view/ edit permissions.
Deploy takeover to your organization
If your organization is already using the OneDrive sync client to sync OneDrive for Business libraries, you can deploy a command to automatically transition any SharePoint site libraries or shared libraries from Groove.exe to the OneDrive sync client automatically without the need for user interaction.
Note: A user must be already signed in to the OneDrive sync client with their OneDrive for Business for takeover to be initiated. If a user isn't signed in, the operation won't take any action.
The takeover command can be triggered by adding the following parameter when launching OneDrive.exe:
OneDrive.exe /takeover
OneDrive.exe is in the following location on a user's machine:
%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\Onedrive.exe
The takeover can be triggered by deploying the following command per user on a PC using tools such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM):
%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /takeover
Both the onedrive.exe and groove.exe clients can run at the same time.

Number of items that can be syncedAlthough SharePoint Online can store 30 million documents per library, the sync performance of OneDrive may start to decline when you store more than 100,000 files in a single OneDrive for Business site or team site library. To resolve this limitation, ensure that files are stored in multiple folders/libraries. If you have more than 100,000 files in a OneDrive for Business site, you may need to wait an extended period of time with OneDrive continuously syncing before sync can complete.
There are other limits on viewing a document library using the web that may affect how you structure your files in OneDrive.
We're always working to optimize OneDrive to better handle libraries with a large number of files.
Size limit for syncing filesThere's a 15-gigabyte (GB) file size limit for each file that's uploaded to the OneDrive for Business library.Character limit for files and foldersIn SharePoint Online, file name paths can have up to 400 characters. The limit may be less than 400 characters in some scenarios, especially if you have a very long URL path for the library.Sync folder location set to a network driveYou can't add a network or mapped drive as your OneDrive sync location.
Shared with MeYou can't synchronize the Shared with Me view grouping of files from a OneDrive for Business site.
Syncing with an external or guest account
Synchronizing content using an external or guest user is currently not supported by OneDriveLibraries with Information Rights Management enabled
Libraries will be synchronized as read-onlyOneNote notebooks
Because OneNote notebooks have their own sync mechanism, they shouldn't be synced by the OneDrive for Business sync client. Instead, you should save your OneNote files through OneNote or the web to OneDrive. OneDrive will create a stub file in your sync folder, depending where you saved the OneNote file.
Open files can't be synced
A file that’s currently opened by an application can't be synced by OneDrive for Business. To sync the file, close any application where the file is currently being used, and then sync the file. This limitation doesn’t apply to co-authoring scenarios when you use the Microsoft Office applications described in the "Office integration" section.
Both the onedrive.exe and groove.exe clients can run at the same time.
