1. As Program Associate for the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program
(CSTEP) and the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) at
Onondaga Community College, my principal role is executing the daily operation of the
CSTEP/LSAMP programs. My primary responsibilities are outlined below, however, this
list is only a starting point, as responsibilities evolve and grow as the program evolves.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide direct executive support to the CSTEP director.
2. Provide direct administrative support to the LSAMP coordinator, CSTEP
counselor and CSTEP academic coach.
3. Maintain Director’s calendar and schedule, compose, document and manage
online resources including CSTEP/LSAMP database and website.
4. Facilitate distribution of student services by coordinating timely student interviews
and counseling sessions.
5. Possess the ability to work quickly and ensure accuracy; compose, proofread
and edit documents.
6. Monitor, correct and update Datatel/Colleague system.
7. Plan, coordinate and facilitate CSTEP events and provide administrative support
to LSAMP events, liaise with outside vendors and organizations on behalf of
CSTEP and LSAMP as needed and maintain good relationships with those
cohorts.
8. Assist and maintain a variety of data for the college, state and federal reports to
track the effectiveness of programs.
9. Provide front-line support to both students interested in the CSTEP and LSAMP
programs and existing students.
10.Liaise with OCC staff, programs, faculty and administrative and support staff on
behalf of CSTEP and LSAMP as needed, as well as the general public; establish
and maintain effective working relationships with those groups to the benefit of
the CSTEP and LSAMP programs.
11.Review all student applications for accuracy and completeness.
12.Refer students to appropriate office staff and offices and/or services for resolving
academic, career, financial or personal concerns. (i.e., Counseling, Financial Aid,
etc.)
13.Understand and comply with the College’s policies and standards.
14.Monitor college work study schedules and review time cards for accuracy.
15.Attend all meetings scheduled by the program director.
16.Manage and maintain office supplies and materials.
17.Create purchase requisitions for program purchases and track spending as
outlined by the CSTEP/LSAMP budgets.
2. 18.Arrange all travel for CSTEP/LSAMP staff and students.
19.Perform other duties under the supervision of the program director in achieving
the mission and objectives of the assigned programs and provide all other
necessary support to ensure the ongoing and consistent functionality of the
CSTEP and LSAMP programs
