• The company has 6,000 brokers and serves 40 cities in India including Mumbai,
Bangalore, Kolkata and Delhi.
• Housing.com lists properties submitted by users, either brokers or owners, on an
interactive map.
• The unique feature of this Rental Agreement is that Housing.com pays stamp duty on
the behalf of tenants and landlords, and delivers the e-stamped rental agreement at
their doorstep within 48 hours.

• Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover, and

• Airbnb runs on a marketplace platform model where it connects hosts and

• Whether an apartment for a night, a castle for a week, or a villa for a

• The online room/property rental service is not properly addressed.
• Services like Airbnb address the needs of the travellers and people
moving from one city to others.
• But the market penetration of this portal is really low.
• There is no other portal in India with similar business model catering
to these target customers.
9. Business Model - RENT A ROOM
• Rent-A-Room is an online marketplace connecting travellers with local
hosts.
• On one side the platform enables people to list their available space and
earn extra income in the form of rent.
• On the other, Rent-A-Room enables travellers to book unique home stays
from local hosts, saving them money and giving them a chance to interact
with locals.
• The platform also helps people moving from one city to another in finding
a suitable place to stay like home stays, paying guest system etc.
• The platform also have an option to find roommates.
10. The 2 customer segments
Hosts:
• Hosts are the people who own property and want to make some money by renting out
their available space.
• They can create a listing for their property on Rent-A-Room, add property details and set
their own rent, check-in, check-out time etc.
• The host can accept or reject the people who booked their listing based on their social
profiles and other details.
The Guest:
• The Guest are the people who book the listed available spaces from local hosts.
• The Guest have the option to search for a property by filtering them according to rent,
amenities provided, location etc.
• The Guest can also search for roommates to share the room.
• The Guest can book a space by paying through the Rent-A-Room portal.
