Hinweis der Redaktion
How many use FB for personal? Professional? LinkedIn? How using?
Thought about giving stats, easily found and verifiable. Decided to focus on what to do instead of why.
During an interview, you may be asked to open your FB page or take an online survey through FB or LinkedIn,. Right during the interview.
Professional community, mentors. Connections, support
When you join LinkedIn, you get access to people, jobs, news, updates, and insights that help you be great at what you do

LinkedIn is just a good example, but the practices can relate to other platforms
Build Your Profile. Grow Your Network. Work it.
Google yourself, NOT from your own device. Like form public library or computer lab.
Summaries and keywords – look at other people who have similar titles: Mine, Malakia Sillcott, Shelly J-D, Arthur Lumzy
Build: straight forward. Easier to copy-paste resume than upload. Can be more info than resume. Helps you build – gives you suggestions to improve.
Additional information – not necessary to include personal details.
Keywords. industry terms and skills so you can be found. Profile, summary, updates
Projects: URL, date, description
Organziations
Certs: leave license # blank
Use of keywords – in titles, not descriptions
Grow your network
In this screen LinkedIn is asking permission that they can look up your Google or yahoo (etc.) contacts.
Connect with people you know. Be selective. Invite to connect. Change formatted wording to personalize. Join Groups.
Once you do connect with someone, take 5 minutes to review their profile and see who they are connected to that you want to connect to, and what groups dot hey belong to…
Connect with people
Connect with other members to build your network.
The more connections you have increases your networking opportunities.
Do not randomly connect with people you don’t know. Not only does that annoy them, you will not gain anything by attempting to connect with someone who has never heard of you.
There are two ways to add a person:
Go to the tool bar, click Contact and scroll down
Type the persons name in the Search box and hit enter
Invite to connect on LinkedIn
John is going to send an invite to William to connect on LinkedIn. There are five options for John to choose on how he knows William.
Colleague
Classmate
We’ve done business together-
Friend
Other- enter the email address if you know it
I don’t know William- If you choose this, a window will pop up and say only to be sent to people you know personally. At this point you are going to see if you can see his resume and see how you connect to him.
How you’re connected
John scrolls down to William’s LinkedIn page. On to the right side he sees How You’re connected to William through two different LinkedIn connections.
They can introduce him to William. This is the only way you can connect with William on LinkedIn because he has it set to private.
The last part of this page lists what you have in common with William via location.
Groups in LinkedIn
Groups are vital to the power of LinkedIn.
Join groups that are comprised of people in your profession, industry, and targeted employers.
It is best that you maintain contact with these groups at least once a week by posting and remaining involved in their discussions.
Profile- choose if you want to be public on your profile or not or just see a few things.
Make sure you have the public profile setting so that your LinkedIn profile can be readily found on Google.
Change your settingsIf you want to change your profile, email preference, groups and account setting, this can be accessed by clicking on the name and scrolling down to the respective selection.
