Key Project Leads
q  Project Scope: leverage the proof of concept prototype developed by SAP
NS2 and for a DoD intelligence agency and incorporate the capability for
remote device position location and securely extend “desktop” analyst
capabilities to the remote users.
q  Goal: create a documented working prototype that will be resident within
the COIL and to be subsequently used as an SAP NS2 Rapid Deployment
Solution (RDS). Provide a HANA development template that integrates
geospatial analysis, predictive analytics, map generation, multi-source
data integration and secure end-to-end for processing and dissemination
of information products.
q  Solution: The RTSA RDS can be deployed in an “on-premise-cloud based
environment” to enable the integration of multi-source (social media,
sensor, location, image, unstructured, structured, etc.) data to perform
geospatial event analysis based on the aggregation of person of interest,
location of interest, activity and semantic analysis to enable the Activity
Based Intelligence mission of the US Intelligence Community.

Key Project Leads
q  Project Scope: Enhance Medicare Mapper HANA Edition to utilize spatial
and predictive capabilities in SAP HANA. Extend spatial Lumira plugin
capabilities. Based on this, develop an SAP HANA based Healthcare
RDS that utilizes spatially enabled applications that can show geospatial
patterns in Big Data and provide rapid insight.
q  Goal: create a documented working prototype that will be resident within
the COIL and to be subsequently used as an SAP Rapid Deployment
Solution (RDS). Provide a platform for the SAP field to demonstrate
HANA capabilities applied to Healthcare. Create HANA based solutions
and templates that integrate geospatial analysis, predictive analytics, map
generation, and multi-source data integration for processing and
dissemination of healthcare analytics and insight.
q  Solution: Beyond enhancing Medicare Mapper and providing demo
capability via the landscape, a Healthcare RDS and other solutions that

Business Challenges and Opportunities:
q  Managing real-time data stream from sensors in industries like Oil & Gas and Utilities requires
dedicated device adapters and time series data base to coordinate the events
q  Analytics of time-series data along with transactional data requires push from OSIsoft PI
Server into HANA in close to real-time.
q Close co-operation between OSIsoft PI and SAP HANA offers new opportunities for
SAP HANA for Machines business to expand overall footprint of SAP in several
industries including Oil & Gas, Utilities, Healthcare, Financial Services, Gaming, Retail
and Public Sector.
Objectives and Scope of COIL project:
q  OSIsoft extend their PI infrastructure to allow streaming sensor events captured by PI
managed sensors into SAP HANA via SAP Sybase ESP.
q  OSIsoft first built an adapter for their PI infrastructure to stream sensor events in to
SAP Sybase ESP using the ESP .NET SDK and
q  SAP configured SAP ESP projects and SAP HANA tables to capture, store and
analyze the sensor events.
q  Based on the successful completion of the COIL Proof of Concept, OSIsoft plans to deliver a
SAP ESP/HANA adapter in its product portfolio

explore an encryption solution that provide an additional layer of
security for Hana systems running in the cloud by encrypting the
data and providing customers with the ability to manage the
encryption keys and access to the data

Scope of COIL project using SAP Extended Diagnostics (SED), SAP
ITPA, Cisco routers & Cisco switches
q  SAP applications are moving to HANA for enhanced performance and real-time
business management. HANA dramatically increases application performance by
eliminating rotational media databases as the major source of application latency.
However, this performance improvement can be negated and a new application
bottleneck created if network policies are not optimized for HANA.
q  Businesses that depend on real-time data need networks optimized for real-time
HANA access. To function at a satisfactory level, SAP HANA communications from
remote locations such as branch offices to centralized data centers must have their
network policies optimized for HANA.
q  The solution is enabled by the capture of the Cisco IOS NetFlow traffic details on the
real time traffic including HANA traffic crossing the wide area network. These
NetFlow details are forwarded from the Cisco routers to CA NFA where they are
compiled while the SAP HANA port level conversations traversing Cisco Nexus
switches are forwarded to CA ADA. SAP Extended Diagnostics, based on CA Wily,
complements and enhances the capabilities of the SAP platform by monitoring
complex Java and .NET Web applications, application servers, portals, enterprise
service buses, process servers and other infrastructure components.

Current version of Vendavo PMM (Price and Margin Management) is a
Java EE application that requires a relational database in production
deployment. Two databases are supported – Oracle Enterprise
Database and IBM DB2.
Profit Analyzer, analytics module of PMM, uses Pricemart as an OLAP
engine. Pricemart is an in-memory database developed by Vendavo.

q  Project Scope: Violin, in combination with Fujitsu and COIL established a 2+1
HANA HA environment to fully test and certify a Violin 6264 array according to
SAP Certification Specifications HANA-HWC-ES 1.0.
q  Goal: Certification of Violin 6200 Series arrays for HANA High Availability
Enterprise Storage
q  Solution: The solution consisted of 3 Fujitsu RS300-S8 128 GB HANA
servers, two Brocade 5100 FC switches and 1 Violin 6264 Flash Memory
Array. The test environment , Brocade switches and network switching and
access were provided by COIL.
q  Results: All performance tests were exceeded. All fail-over tests were
successful. Certification was obtained 27 May 2014.
q  Impact: Violin 6200 Series arrays are now available for HANA HA
environments and bring significant performance improvements in cache
swapping and writing logs, delta changes and backups.

q  How does a remote or mobile client user of SAP 3D Virtual
Enterprise Software securely access and productively use the
software over sometimes unpredictable wide area networks
without incurring the costs associated with expensive
dedicated telco-delivered bandwidth and or complex and
expensive fat client technologies?
q  With HANA as the backend, the project leverages existing SAP
development provided capabilities of SAP 3D Virtual Enterprise
to effectively work with a Citrix powered client.
q  The needed infrastructure consists of SAP HANA, a backend
server with virtual GPUs (NVIDIA GRID), with XenServer and
XenApp/XenDesktop on it to run SAP 3D VE in a virtual
machine on Windows. On the frontend any kind of mobile
device being able to run Citrix Receiver can be used.
