Fan culture is an example of audience response, as fans strongly support their chosen media through costumes, fan fiction, and meetups. Star Wars in particular has a massive fan base that goes to extreme lengths to show their love, such as dressing up as characters at conventions, midnight movie releases, and other events. These fans also use the internet and social media and websites like Facebook and Tumblr to connect with other fans worldwide and share humor through photos, videos and posts about the Star Wars franchise.
2. Fan Culture
Fan culture is an example of audience response, every TV
show, film, music artist, or video game will have a fan
base that strongly supports them. These fans will show
their support and love for their chosen piece of media
through many forms. Cosplays are where people dress up
in a costume that is very accurate to one of their
favourite characters, fans will then meet up in groups at
conventions, shows, or even smaller meet ups. Another
way fans show their love is through fan fictions, this is
where people from all over the world will write their own
dream stories which will include characters and settings
from shows or bands.

4. Star Wars Audience Response
The film series Star Wars has been a massive hit with a lot of generations, from the 1970’s, 2000’s and
now the 2010’s. What started off as a one off film has turned into7 films with more to be released,
cartoon shows, and of course a lot of fan reception. One of the most important parts of Star Wars is the
fans, all the millions and millions of fans. A lot of these fans go to extreme lengths to show their love for
their favourite film series by dressing up as popular or recognizable characters and going to meet up
with other fans who are doing the same thing at festivals or events such as ComiCon or even events that
are made just for Star Wars fans. Its not just big events like these where you will see fans dress up, but
you will also find them at the cinema at midnight releases or even normal film showings. This was the
case with the midnight release of the latest film ‘The Force Awakens’ in which everyone in the cinema
were either dressed up as a character or just had a piece of star wars merchandise, people like this are
sometimes known by other people as ‘hardcore fans’.
The internet is what brings all these fans together through social media and blogs. Websites like
Facebook have many fan sites and event pages that fans will like and go to so they can communicate
with other fans, or just so they can understand a certain type of humour that other people wont
understand because they don’t know much about Star Wars. Tumblr is a very popular social media/blog
website that is well known to house ‘fandoms’ and just fans of a wide variety of shows and films in
general, such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, and Doctor Who, which tend to have the
largest amount of fans. On this websites different users will post funny and relevant photos, videos, gifs,
and posts about a film or show (in this case Star Wars) and other random people from around the world
will comment on it and have a laugh with other users as if they were friends with them.
