An open letter to mr. shahrukh khan
1.
An open letter to
Mr. Shahrukh Khan
On the eve of March for India
A March for India by Tolerant Indians
November
07,
2015
2.
While
the
spirit
of
this
letter
is
intended
to
all
such
people,
saying
that
there
is
excessive
or
increasing
Intolerance
in
India,
I
am
specifically
mentioning/addressing
Mr.
Khan
because:
• he
is
a
superstar
in
this
intolerant
(as
per
him
excessive
and
growing)
country
and
in
other
parts
of
the
world
because
of
intolerant
Indians
across
the
globe
(until
Indians
are
intolerant,
India
can’t
be
intolerant)
• he
is
one
of
the
most
influential
voice,
influencing
millions
of
Indians,
who
have
made
him
their
superstar
(of-‐course
he
has
also
worked
extremely
hard)
and
he
has
spoken
(exercising
his
freedom
of
speech
in
this
intolerant
country)
on
the
day
of
his
much
celebrated
50th
B’day
(here
is
wishing
you
all
the
success
and
happiness),
adding
fuel
(well,
fuel
is
cheaper
now
a
days)
by
endorsing
the
voice
of
few,
who
believe,
there
is
either
excessive
or
growing
intolerance
Why
has
India
suddenly
become
intolerant?
It
appears
from
Mr.
Khan’s
statements
(interviewed
by
the
most
tolerant
person
I.e.
Mr.
Rajdeep
Sardesai)
that
the
recent
incidents
(as
he
may
have
observed/read/debated
etc.)
involving
Dadri
or
the
Dalit
killings
or
the
FTII
row
or
even
the
beef
ban
debate/controversy
etc.
etc.
has
led
to
Govt.
doing
moral
policing,
encouraging
such
incidents,
not
speaking
(especially
the
Prime
Minister)
or
doing
enough
to
control
them,
not
appointing
prominent
people
at
important
institutions
rather
appointing
their
own
representatives
(including
at
Censor
Board)
or
polarizing/communalizing
Bihar
to
win
the
election
(especially
for
the
Fifth
phase)
etc
etc.
What
has
happened
is
highly
condemnable!
I
am
not
going
to
repeat
as
majority
have
already
said
that
what
has
happened
in
last
18
months,
which
is
different
from
last
10
years.
There
were
more
horrific
incidents
including
corruption
in
the
last
10
years
and
detailing
them
will
be
a
futile
exercise.
I
am
able
to
write
this
open
letter
to
you
because
of
the
very
idea
of
India
and
that
is
Tolerance.
I
always
admired
you
for
what
you
achieved
and
it
continues
and
so
do
millions
of
Indians
because
of
various
other
reasons
including
your
reel
life.
You
know,
your
voice
matters,
influences
millions,
starts
debates,
so
much
so
now
the
mastermind
of
the
most
horrific
attack
on
Indian
soil
calls
invites
you
to
Pakistan.
As
you
know
better
and
say,
with
such
power
comes
a
huge
responsibility.
Instead
of
just
making
a
statement,
if
you
were
really
concerned
with
the
excessive/growing
Intolerance,
you
could
have
easily
sought
an
appointment
with
Govt.
(your
one
letter/call
was
good
enough
for
anyone
to
give
you
an
appointment)
and
voiced
your
concerns
and
become
an
ambassador
or
a
bridge
to
ensure
the
so
called
Intolerance
as
per
you
reduces
or
gets
eliminated.
You
are
well
read.
There
are
countries
where
even
today
Women
cannot
come
out
without
Burqah,
are
not
allowed
to
drive,
participate
in
electorate
process
etc.
Leave
aside
other
countries,
if
there
was
intolerance
on
ground,
%
of
women
voting
in
Bihar
election
would
not
have
been
6%
higher.
As
an
Indian,
it
hurts
to
see
a
headline
world’s
leading
media
platforms
I.e.
is
India
becoming
Intolerant?
3.
So
much
so,
just
imagine
what
will
go
in
a
person’s
mind
when
he
reads
about
this
or
hears
it
coming
from
you,
who:
• has
left
his
own
family
(in
a
country
where
dynastic
politics
is
the
name
of
the
game)
and
made
125
crore
people
as
his
family
members,
• is
working
day
in
and
out
since
taking
oath
as
Prime
Minister
(not
taken
a
day
leave),
• is
putting
in
more
hours
every
day
then
you
or
me
or
most
other
Indians
to
ensure
India
becomes
a
force
to
reckon
with,
on
the
world
map
and
doesn’t
remain
a
third
world
country
(meaning
Indians
are
brought
out
of
poverty),
• is
ensuring
India
is
taken
seriously
on
the
world
map
(and
each
of
his
foreign
visits
is
packed
up-‐to
the
last
minute
with
no
time
for
himself,
not
even
for
Jet-‐lags),
• wants
all
Indians
to
have
homes,
electricity,
roads,
sanitation,
financial
inclusion,
better
railways,
education,
access
to
healthcare
facilities,
better
agricultural
practices
etc.
• wants
our
military
to
be
so
strong
that
nobody
(especially
the
ones
who
are
inviting
you)
messes
with
us.
• is
truly
a
remarkable
and
inspirational
story.
For
the
first
time,
India’s
image
in
the
eyes
of
Indians
and
in
the
world
is
being
talked
about.
There
has
been
absolutely
no
compromise
on
Internal
security.
Most
importantly
there
have
been
no
scams
(at-‐least
till
date).
Whether
the
Prime
Minister
choses
to
speak
or
not
(he
has
better
and
far
more
important
things
to
do
after
having
spoken
enough
on
all
platforms
including
Parliament),
or
ignores
it,
I
am
sure,
with
such
a
non
issue
being
made
a
national
issue
and
you
putting
your
stamp
to
it
and
it
grabbing
global
headlines
(of-‐course
in
India
it
will
continue
to
play
even
more
and
longer
for
reasons
known
to
all),
he
like
most
of
Indians
including
me,
will
be
extremely
hurt.
The
saying
is
true,
all
fingers
are
not
equal
and
the
same
is
true
for
the
ruling
Govt.
at
the
centre
as
well.
There
are
loose
canons
(don’t
know
what
they
want
to
prove
by
being
not
sensitive
not
only
to
Indians
but
to
their
own
Prime
Minister
as
well).
I
am
sure;
he
will
equally
be
hurt
with
his
own
people’s
act.
I
am
also
sure;
he
will
accordingly
act.
The
opposition
forces
of-‐course
will
make
hue
and
cry
about
it
and
will
only
try
to
add
more
fuel.
But
this
is
expected
from
them.
It
serves
their
interests.
Without
dwelling
much
of
past,
all
I
know
is
that
if
68
years
post
Independence,
we
are
still
talking
about
majority
of
Indians
living
below
poverty
line
without
having
proper
sanitation
facilities
(even
worse
of
girls/women),
absolutely
poor
education
and
healthcare
infrastructure,
ever
increasing
no.
of
unemployed
people,
heavy
dependence
on
social
schemes
(right
to
food/MNREGA
etc.),
voting
on
caste
lines,
reservation
continuing
to
dominate
headlines,
what
has
the
opposition
forces,
who
ruled
the
country
for
almost
6
decades,
given
us.
It’s
better
to
ignore
them.
I
certainly
do.
Indians
(the
middle/lower
class
and
I
am
one
of
them)
are
not
interested
in
this.
All
they
want
is
an
income
stream
to
support
themselves
and
their
families.
They
are
not
concerned
with
what
happened
in
the
past
but
want
to
look
forward.
They
don’t
want
to
be
divided
on
caste/communal
lines.
They
want
to
be
together
on
development
path.

Kudos
to
Mr.
Anupam
Kher
to
be
standing
for
what
is
right,
even
though
it
means
rubbing
few
vested
interests
on
the
wrong
side.
Declaration:
I
am
not
affiliated
with
any
party/wing
in
any
manner
whatsoever.
I
am
a
hard
working
professional,
who
is
more
interested
in
looking
into
future
both
for
my
country
as
well
as
me.
