Presented at WordCamp 2016 NYC. In this talk I’ll show you why Vagrant is so awesome and how you can get up and running quickly. Vagrant is a great piece of software that creates reproducible and portable virtual machines which can be used as web servers for local WordPress testing environments. Vagrant is a tool for managing virtual machines – creating a programmatic way create and configure virtual machines that mimic an application’s production environment. I’ve collected a few WordPress-related Vagrant resources that will help you get started. Will discuss many of the different vagrant boxes used to create a portable WordPress environment that are cross-platform compatible and easily to be deployed to almost any live environment.

Kubernetes vs Dockers Swarm supporting ONAP-OOM on multi-cloud multi-stack environment Description: ONAP was set originally to support multiple container platform and cloud through TOSCA. In R1 ONAP and OOM is dependent completely on Kubernetes. As there are other container platforms such as Docker Swarm that are gaining more wider adoption as a simple alternative to Kubernetes. In addition operator may need the flexibility to choose their own container platform and be open for future platform. We need to weight the alternatives and avoid using package managers as Helm that makes K8s mandatory. The use of TOSCA in conjunction with Kubernetes provides that "happy medium" where on one hand we can leverage Kubernetes to a full extent while at the same time be open to other alternative. In this workshop, we will compare Kubernetes with Docker Swarm and walk through an example of how ONAP can be set to support both platforms using TOSCA.

Testing applications is important, as shows the rise of continuous integration and automated testing. In this talk, I will focus on one area of testing that is difficult to automate: poor network connectivity. Developers usually work within reliable networking conditions so they might not notice issues that arise in other networking conditions. I will give examples of software that would benefit from test scenarios with varying connectivity. I will explain how traffic control on Linux can help to simulate various network connectivity. Finally, I will run a demo showing how an application running in Kubernetes behaves when changing network parameters.

Retrieval augmented generation (RAG) is the most popular style of large language model application to emerge from 2023. The most basic style of RAG works by vectorizing your data and injecting it into a vector database like Milvus for retrieval to augment the text output generated by an LLM. This is just the beginning. One of the ways that we can extend RAG, and extend AI, is through multilingual use cases. Typical RAG is done in English using embedding models that are trained in English. In this talk, we’ll explore how RAG could work in languages other than English. We’ll explore French, Chinese, and Polish.
