Mudah teroksidasi (karat)
Konduktor panas dan listrik yang baik
Cenderung lunak dan ulet, namun menjadi lebih kuat dan keras jika berpadu dengan
unsur karbon, mangan, silikon atau paduan (alloying element) lainnya
Dapat memiliki berbagai macam sifat-sifat yang unggul : tangguh (toughness), ulet
(ductile), keras (hardness), mampu las (weldability), mampu pengerasan (hardenable,
