1. Tokyo – Office Relocation and Consolidation at Higashi Azabu Building
Elsevier renewed the existing lease from floor 2 to 4 for another 3 years until End June 2017 while Lexis Nexis concurrently
took up a new lease at floor 6 for the same period. This is to consolidate both businesses in the same building and align
the respective operation objectives.
Fit-out work was carried out at the new floor 6 office, follow by a refurbishment of the existing 3 office floors. The entire
project work spans over 27.5k sqft of office spaces and consists of 5 work phases, which was successfully completed within
the tight timeline of 3.5 months on 21 September 2014.
The completed office spaces would able to accommodate a total head count of 321 staff, to support the business needs
for the forthcoming years. With the consolidation of both businesses under one roof, it would improve collaboration
amongst various work groups, there by further stimulate operational efficiency in terms of cost and time.
The new office is a hybrid between flexi- and static desks with lots of breakout and collaborative spaces. Only the 2nd
floor
has a static desk allocation. The transition process from tradition fix work desk concept to work place of the
future was managed by the GRECS team together with the assistance from the RETS team, together with support and co-
ordination of the project leads from respective Business Units.
