In a recent news release, Nebraska University announced the latest
inductees to the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame. The 2019 Hall of Fame
class includes one state college coach and five former players, including four
Cornhuskers.
The four Hall of Fame Huskers are led by kicker Alex Henery who was a four-
year starter during his career at the University of Nebraska. Before playing
at Nebraska from 2007 to 2010, Henery was a standout player at Omaha
Burke High School. As a Cornhusker, he maintained an NCAA-record 88.9
percent on his field-goal attempts, making 68 out of 76. Henery went on to
play four seasons in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions.
3. Nebraska
The other former University of Nebraska players to join Henery as part
of the 2019 class are defensive lineman Jay Foreman, offensive tackle
Mark Behning, and offensive guard Greg Jorgensen. All three men were
drafted into the NFL following their college careers, although only
Foreman and Behning played professionally. Foreman played eight
seasons split among four NFL teams, and Behning played for three
seasons as a Pittsburgh Steeler.
Former NCAA Division II wide receiver Richie Ross and former Chadron
State head coach Brad Smith are also part of the 2019 Nebraska
Football Hall of Fame class. The six men will be officially inducted into
the Hall of Fame during an induction dinner at the University of
Nebraska on September 13.
