2. My Research Question:
• Should college athletes be paid to participate in their
extracurricular activities?
• I believe that college athletes should be paid to
participate in their extracurricular activities because
everyone profits off the athletes, but they don’t profit of
themselves. The athletes are the ones who provide the
things everyone gets paid for.

3. Balancing Facts:
• Every institution across the country uses some level of
institutional, or student-fee to balance the athletic budget
(Orleans 79).
• Reducing institutional resources in the athletic
department would lower the opportunities for athletes
and their individual experiences (Orleans 79).

4. My Point:
• Since every institution uses some type of fees to balance the athletic
budget, the athletic players should get paid. It would be similar to
playing in the pros, except they wouldn’t be getting paid near as
much.
• I think their hard work, dedication, and risk of injuries should be paid
off. Not all of the money the athletic department makes goes to the
right cause.
• Also, there are some players who have a chance to go to the
pros, but a college injury could mess up their dream. Having a little
income for playing in college could help get them a little money
saved up, in case they don’t make it to the pros because of an injury.

6. • I want to prove to people that college athletes
should get paid, that is why I named the power
point college athletes because it is all about
them. I introduced my research question, and
explained why I chose the research question. I
explained why I believe in my research question. I
used a couple of sources from my article, which I
feel helped me make my point on the “My Point”
slide. Then I provided my point about why
athletes should be paid. I provided this power
point in a way that will hopefully make people
understand and agree with where I am coming
from.
