This presentation titled '10Things You Didn't Know About Office 365' comes from Suite's Coffee and the Cloud event held in March, 2015. The guest speaker was Brendon Ford, COO of Provoke
Coffee and the Cloud is a breakfast forum, hosted by The Full Suite. It is a collaborative and conversational event designed to address the topics that are relevant for Office 365 partners. This is a forum where partners can get together to share their experiences, trade knowledge and tips, help each other address challenges encountered in selling and deploying Office 365, and network with peers in the Office 365 community.

18. OVER TO THE FLOOR
What’s the biggest bug bear with Office 365 being reported at PAC?
What’s the most exciting feature coming in Office 365?
We decided to create this event to enable all Office 365 partners to get together to share their experiences, trade knowledge and tips, help each other address challenges encountered in selling and deploying Office 365, and network with peers in the Office 365 community. The goal is for all of us to work together to enable greater success of the overall Office 365 Community. The idea is for these to be pretty relaxed and informal, opportunity for you to raise your own points of interest, in fact we encourage that. We’re here to prompt conversation.
We’re The Full Suite, we specialise in making SharePoint Online work for SMBs. We were the Microsoft Start-up Partner of the Year for 2012 and we are a Microsoft cloud partner. Briefly, our apps are:
SuiteFiles – cloud based file management, all files are stored in SharePoint Online
SuiteMoves – migration of files to SharePoint Online
SuiteReader – mobile access to your files using iOS
SuiteGenerator – cloud based content store
Contextual info:
For customers and partners who want to get the latest and greatest from Office 365 can be found in settings section of Admin center. Automagically comes through with updates.
You’ll see brand new stuff to O365 – so will all your users – how to keep people abreast of changes
Scans inbox and intelligently works out how you’re working with email. If it sees that you constantly don’t open a certain type of email, it will move it to the clutter folder. Doing what junk mail does, but not just bad mail. Lower priority emails.
Clutter new feature – allows admins to stop email from certain people (e.g. CEO) from going into clutter. Find under admin center.
A hidden gem of O365 – like insurance, don’t value it until you need it. If a customer buys the enterprise version of O365 then they get eDiscovery and legal hold functionality. Latter great feature for departing staff – if they resign, you can put their email into legal hold so that you can have it for perpetuity.
eDiscovery runs searches over email, ie. ‘job offer’. Help to find credit card numbers being sent out, or sensitive information.
OD for Business undergoing modernization process – vocal issue is a syncing issue. MSFT is taking OD for consumer and OD for Business and creating a single sync engine that is reliable. Can be thought of as the Enterprise Dropbox – allows you to do offline syncs, but corporate.
Now with an E3 license, you can install O365 on up to 5 machines. It will also give you mobile use rights, allowing you to do such things as use Word for work on your iPad. It may seem like you’re being made to pay for something that is already free, but that isn’t the case. You are able to use Word on iPad for free but only as a consumer. Once it detects that you’re using Office on your iPad for commercial purposes, Microsoft require you to have a license for it. This is where an E3 license helps.
The Mac Office 2016 preview is also out - http://blogs.office.com/2015/03/05/office-2016-mac-preview/
Lync + Federation rebranded as Skype for business. If you buy O365 + Lync, you can set Federation to be open, which allows you to see the availability status of people outside of your direct company. It’s a different way to do B2B communication. An example is the need to communicate with your business’ insurance broker. By setting Federation to open, you’re able to communicate directly with them when they’re online, rather cluttering up both of your inboxes by exchanging emails.
Self-explanatory
Like push search – whenever content goes into SharePoint online, or if an email has an attachment, all of that turns up in Delve if it’s been made public. Quicker way to get to content – driving productivity.
Youtube for enterprises – private vault to store training material, in preview mode right now, available in first release.
Can personalize login page of O365.
Productivity gain and for free
Pointing towards the roadmap site for O365. Working a lot harder to give public a heads up – what’s turning up in the first release and when.
Partner admin app – partners to manage customers on the fly (anyone they’ve got delegated admin access for)
Add to end – information for third tier partner support - http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2996739
Both migration. We’ve migrated over 1.6millon files into Office 365 with SuiteMoves – automated app…
And file management. More on this later.
These apps are also available for other businesses to use and sell as part of their Office 365 offering. However, we don’t want to make this a sales pitch. You have a partner pack in front of you. Everything you need to know about how our programme works is in there, and just get in touch if you’d like to find out more….
