We often talk about mental health and wellness in the workplace as if it’s so much different than mental health anywhere else.
That’s it’s a set of skills exclusive to the workplace.
In and out of the workplace. I maintain that if you’re not well in the workplace your not well outside if it and the converse is true. If you’re not well outside of the workplace you’re probably not well at work.
My lack of mental wellness first manifested itself in the workplace. Makes sense – it was the most high stress place of my life. I was high stung, often having emotional outbursts. Grandiose plans and schemes that made no sense. Often working at the office until midnight or 1:00 AM. Not coming to work for a weeks at a time because I couldn’t even brush my teeth, let alone get out of bed to function normally.
When I was at my most unhealthly, I did not have one of these center catagories in hand.
