handheld terminals with central server
◼ Challenges:
▪ Moving trucks, forklifts and metallic goods can
affect Wi-Fi signal and coverage
▪ Very long distance and huge area coverage
◼ Solution:
▪ 9 units of A8n and AWMS
◼ Result:
▪ The A8n’s are mounted on the tower with all
sector antenna downtilt 20°to avoid provide
large area coverage and avoid interference
▪ AWMS is used for access and network

▪ Over 100 handheld terminals connected with
central server via the wireless network

▪ Application: Logistics control and Wi-Fi access for mobile data
terminals, trucks and quay cranes. HIT is part of Hutchison Port

ground transportation and luggage transportation

In the logistic center, it is critical for each
automated guided vehicle to have
uninterpreted and seamless roaming
connectivity to perform non-stop
operations. If the connectivity is weak or
no connectivity, within seconds the AGV
will stop operating. This will hugely affect
the operational efficiency. To enhance
the connectivity, Altai C1ni is integrated
in the AGV to offer top industrial fast
roaming with less than 80m/s under
WPA2

▪ Application: Private network – interconnecting all the
warehouse applications

▪ The area is dense with narrow corridors among the
building blocks
▪ Lack of Ethernet and tall buildings for installation

▪ A8n co-located with existing 2G/3G cell sites

stacks. Rf absorption of Paper stack was very
high with basically no coverage at all with the
original 12-APs Wi-Fi network

▪ Complete coverage of the plant with strong connectivity
to all handheld terminals throughout the warehouse.

◼ Application: WiFi network for automotive manufacturing
plant
◼ Challenges:
▪ Harsh environment
▪ Network reliability and redundancy
▪ Limited site for installation
▪ Full coverage for 80,000 square meter workshop
◼ Solution:
▪ Seven A8-Ein’s are mounted on the ceiling
▪ AWMS is used for access and network management
◼ Result:
▪ It replaced 30 units of Cisco AP
▪ In such a complicated environment, the average
signal strength is over -60dBm at 200m away from the
base station
▪ A8-Ein is able to maximize signal strength and
minimize interference and packet errors
▪ With the new wireless network, the real-time data is
able to transfer from production line to the Control
Room

In the car assembly plant, each industrial robot requires
an uninterpreted connectivity not only to perform non-
stop operations, but also monitoring the
health/production status of each station/robot. In
addition to that, all programmable logic controller (PLC)
data will also be recorded in the data center for big data
analytics to improve operational efficiency.

forklifts and metallic racks which can affect Wi-Fi signals
and network coverage
▪ Reliable and always available connectivity is critical
▪ Solution:
▪ For open area coverage, Altai A8n’s are installed on the
rooftops of buildings to provide Wi-Fi coverage over long
distances
▪ For relatively smaller coverage such as the indoor areas of
the poultry houses, warehouses and packing stations, the
Altai A2 access point are deployed to provide a cost-
effective wireless coverage
▪ Applications like a wireless sensor network, truck weighing,
goods tracking, wireless surveillance system can now be
fully operated without worrying about the stability of
wireless network

We are planning to upgrade the existing system using Altai for the other railway terminals.” ▪ Challenge: ▪ Severe signal loss and interference, large area coverage for 800,000 m2 but at minimal cost ▪ Solution: ▪ Using A8 which provides 10 times in area and 5 times in median throughput and therefore minimize the cost ▪ A2 provides a low cost supplement for filling coverage holes ▪ Result: ▪ Significantly larger coverage and higher throughput capacity than the Cisco access points they used before ▪ Fewer base stations are required per square kilometer ▪ Operating well in high interference environment without degradation ▪ Now has wireless coverage across the whole terminal.
