Generation Z is constantly connected through technology like smartphones, social media, Google, and YouTube. While very tech-savvy, this constant connectivity and reliance on technology for information has impacted their critical thinking skills. They lack the ability to properly evaluate sources of information found online. SCOLA (Student Centered, Online, Learning Activity) is an approach where students learn outside the classroom through interactive online methods like watching instructional videos and completing related activities. It can be used to "flip" traditional classroom sessions by having students learn content individually before class through online videos and discussions. SCOLA works for all levels and can include both independent and blended online learning activities.
