22. Oklahomans for Equality
● Oklahomans for Equality / OkEq (formerly Tulsa Oklahomans for Human Rights / TOHR) was founded
in 1980 by a small group of people concerned about human rights and equality for lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals.
● OkEq opened Oklahoma’s first LGBT Community Center in October 1996. The Center quickly became
the focal point for the community and subsequently moved to two larger locations over the years. In
October 2005, thanks to the success of the Pyramid Project capital campaign, OkEq purchased an
18,000-square-foot facility to house the permanent home for the community. The Dennis R. Neill
Equality Center opened on Jan. 23, 2007.
● OKEQ Health Clinic, Trans Support Group, Legal Services, Equality Business Alliance, Art Gallery,
Library, Computer Lab, Youth Program, Behavioral Health Services, Shelter, History Project Room,
Event Space, Lynn Riggs Theater, and more.
23. OKEQ Programming
● Queer Black Voices is a
monthly series that highlights
Black Queer Oklahomans and
gives them a space and
opportunity to tell their stories
and journeys
● IndigiQueer is a space created for
queer and two-spirit
native/indigenous persons.
IndigiQueer aims to empower our
indigenous community through
cultural learning, connection and
tribal involvement.
24. Supporting Local Orgs
Supporting other events and organizations i.e. Black Queer
Tulsa, CarefreeQueer, Oklahoma Center of Community Justice,
