           in the Classroom

    Thailand First Graders EP 1/10

Can you
see me?
LESSON 1
Step 1: Review Scientist skills of
observation and recording.
Step 2: Go outside and look for
the small animals hiding in the
plants – look for clues (eaten
leaves, webs, movement, nests, etc.)
Step 3: Catch them; observe them,
discuss them.
LESSON 2
Step 1: Write sentences to describe
your insect you caught outside.
LESSON 3
Step 1: Look at videos.
Step 2: Identify the different kinds
of animals that use camouflage.
Step 3: Introduce relevant Science
vocabulary.
LESSON 4
Step 1: Bring in a mystery insect
(example: a beetle).
Step 2: Observe it. Talk about it.
LESSON 5
Step 1: Show and discuss the
Inquiry Process in action using the
Oleander Hawkmoth video as an
example
Step 2: Discuss what people do to
find out what they don’t know (ask
an expert, research on the internet,
look in books, etc.)
LESSON 6
Step 1: Review Scientist skill of
recording information in detail.
Step 2: Write sentences to
describe the mystery insect.
LESSON 7
Step 1: Show more videos of
animal camouflage. Discuss.
Step 2: Teacher assigns an animal
home in the classroom for each
student. Students create an animal
of their choice, but it must be
camouflaged in its home.
