 The successor to the Xbox 360 and Microsoft’s most recent console, the Xbox
ONE was revealed on May 21, 2013.

 It’s graphic memory is 500 MHz ATI Xenos.
PERIPHERALS
 Xbox 360 have peripheral devices like,
‱ Controllers
‱ Console
‱ Kinect motion sensing camera
‱ Headset
Controller
 Xbox 360 controller is the primary controller for Microsoft Xbox 360.
 The Xbox controller comes in both Wired and Wireless versions.
 The controller is also compatible with PCs, like Windows Vista, 7, and 8.
 Wireless versions requires a Wireless Gaming Receiver.
 This wireless controller run on either AA batteries or a rechargeable battery.
 Wired controllers may be connected to any of the USB ports on the console.
 The Xbox 360 controller provides a standard USB Human Interface Device
software interface, but is designed for the Microsoft’s XInput library.
Layout
 A standard Xbox 60 controller features eleven digital buttons, two analogue
triggers, two analogue sticks and a digital D-Pad.
 The right face of the controller features four digital buttons: a green “A”, red
“B”, blue “X”, and yellow “Y” button.
 The lower right houses the right analogue stick, in lower left is a digital D-Pad
and on the left face is the left analogue stick.
 Bot analogue sticks can also be “clicked in” to activate a digital button
beneath.
 In the center of the controller face are digital “Start”, “Back”, and “Guide”
buttons.
KINECT CAMERA
 Kinect is a line of motion sensing input device by Microsoft for X box 360 and Xbox
One video game console and Windows PCs.
 Based around a Webcam-style add-on peripheral, it enables users to control and
interact with their console/computer without the need for a game controller,
through a natural user interface using gestures and spoken commands.
 First generation of Kinect was first introduced in November 2010.
 Kinect competes with several motion controllers on other home consoles, such as
Wii Remote plus for Wii and Wii U, Play station, etc
..
 Microsoft released Kinect software development kit for Windows 7 on June 16,
2011. This SDK was meant to allow developers to write Kinecting apps in C++/CLI,
C#, or Visual Basic .NET.
TECHNOLOGY
 Kinect builds on a software technology developed internally by Rare, a
subsidiary of Microsoft Game Studios owned by Microsoft, and on range
camera technology by Israeli developer PrimeSense, which developed a
system that can interpret specific gestures, making completely hands-free
control of electronic devices possible by using an infrared projector and
camera and a special microchip to track the movement of objects and
individuals in three dimensions.
 Kinect sensor is a horizontal bar connected to a small base with a motorized
pivot and is designed to be positioned lengthwise above or below the video
display. The device features an “RGB” camera, depth sensor and multi-array
microphone running proprietary software", which provide full-body 3D motion
capture, facial recognition and voice recognition capabilities.
 The depth sensor consists of an infrared laser projector combined with a
monochrome CMOS sensor, which captures video data in 3D under any
ambient light conditions. The sensing range of the depth sensor is adjustable,
and Kinect software is capable of automatically calibrating the sensor based
on gameplay and the player's physical environment, accommodating for the
presence of furniture or other obstacles.
 Kinect is capable of simultaneously tracking up to six people.
 Because the Kinect sensor's motorized tilt mechanism requires more power
than the Xbox 360's USB ports can supply, the device makes use of a
proprietary connector combining USB communication with additional power.
CONSOLE
o Console is the processing and main unit of Xbox
360.
o All the peripherals are connected to this
console.
o For connecting wired controllers, it have ports
like USB.
o For wireless versions it have wireless sensors to
receive signals from wireless devices like
Controllers, Headset etc
..
o It have a storage space, basically a Hard Disk
Drive.
o The HDD capacity varies in versions.
o Xbox 360 have 250 GB or 320 GB storage spaces
inbuilt.
Headset
 The headset is provided with Xbox 360.
 It is used for voice commands.
 The voice commands are provided to console through the microphone on the
headset.
SAME DEVICES
 There are so many other devices are available for gaming.
Sony play station
Nintendo Wii
SONY PLAYSTATION
 The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a home video game console
produced by Sony Computer Entertainment
 It was the first console to use Blu-ray Disc as its primary
storage medium.
 It was first released on November 11, 2006, in Japan
NINENTO Wii
 The Wii (/ˈwiː/ WEE) is a home video game console released by
Nintendo on November 19, 2006.
 The Wii introduced the Wii Remote controller, which can be used
as a handheld pointing device and which detects movement in
three dimensions.
 Another notable feature of the console is WiiConnect24, which
enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while
in standby mode.
XBOX Services
 Xbox Video
On November 6, 2006, Microsoft announced the Xbox Video Marketplace, an exclusive
video store accessible through the console. Launched in the United States on November 22,
2006, the first anniversary of the Xbox 360's launch, the service allows users in the United
States to download high-definition and standard-definition television shows and movies onto an
Xbox 360 console for viewing. With the exception of short clips, content is not currently
available for streaming, and must be downloaded. Movies are also available for rental.
 Xbox Music
Xbox Music provides 30 million music tracks available for purchase or access through
subscription. It was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2012 and will integrate
with Windows 8 and Windows Phone as well.
 Xbox Live Marketplace
The Xbox Live Marketplace is a virtual market designed for the console that allows
Xbox Live users to download purchased or promotional content. The service offers movie
and game trailers, game demos, Xbox Live Arcade games and Xbox 360 Dashboard themes as
well as add-on game content (items, costumes, levels etc.).
ADVANTAGES OVER PS AND Wii
 -Bigger game library than the PS3 currently.
 -X-Box provides more gaming experience than other devices.
 -Cheaper face value than a PS3.
 -Many decent-good FPS.
DIS-ADVANTAGES
 -Relatively high chance of a defective system.
 -The HD-DVD is a thing of the past therefore 360 games are now capped in size at
8.54gigs unless Blu-Ray support is added.
 -X-Box Live requires a subscription.
 -Aside from FPS, Sports games, and generic action games the 360 has an
extremely limited game library in terms of genre.
 -To add to the limited game library, future releases seem to be doing very little to
rectify this issue.
 -Only uses expensive proprietary Microsoft Hard drives.
 -Compared by features and cost at length it's actually more expensive than a PS3.
 -It's region locked unlike the PS3 which is region free.
Conclusion
 Xbox is a gaming device developed by Microsoft.
 It also provides services like Xbox live, for entertainment- viewing video,
etc
.
 There are many versions of Xbox.
 This Xbox 360 provides more gaming experience than other devices can
provide.

  • 23. ADVANTAGES OVER PS AND Wii  -Bigger game library than the PS3 currently.  -X-Box provides more gaming experience than other devices.  -Cheaper face value than a PS3.  -Many decent-good FPS.
  • 24. DIS-ADVANTAGES  -Relatively high chance of a defective system.  -The HD-DVD is a thing of the past therefore 360 games are now capped in size at 8.54gigs unless Blu-Ray support is added.  -X-Box Live requires a subscription.  -Aside from FPS, Sports games, and generic action games the 360 has an extremely limited game library in terms of genre.  -To add to the limited game library, future releases seem to be doing very little to rectify this issue.  -Only uses expensive proprietary Microsoft Hard drives.  -Compared by features and cost at length it's actually more expensive than a PS3.  -It's region locked unlike the PS3 which is region free.
