For each landmark, it notes when it was built and what purpose it originally served.

2. Pyramids
• These are the pyramids
• The pyramids were built
from around 2700 BC to
1500 BC
• Pyramids served as “tombs
for Pharos”
• It is a big tourist attraction

3. Great Wall of China
• This is the Great wall of China
• It was built in the 7th century
• It was built for military
defenses
• It still keeps unwanted visitors
out of the country

4. Eiffel Tower
• This is the Eiffel Tower
• The tower was built from 1887 to
1889
• It was built to symbolize the 100
year anniversary to the french
revolution in1787
• It serves us today as a reminder of
their achievement of their sucess

5. Berlin Wall
• This is the Berlin wall
• The Berlin wall was built to
keep East Germans from
leaving
• The wall was built in 1961
• It is mainly used as a tourist
attraction

6. Washington Monument
• This is the Washington Monument
• It was built in between 1848 and 1884
• The monument was built george
washington and his leadership in the
revolutionary war
• The monument serves as a reminder

7. Mecca (Hajj)
• This is Mecca, a religious center
• It was built in May 27 2004
• Was built for worshipers
• Serves as a place for Muslims

8. Noter Dame
• This is Noter Dame
• Began construction in 1163
• It was built for the virgin Mary
• A museum in a way, also
serves as a place for royalty to
have weddings

9. Big Ben
• This is Big Ben
• Was completed on April 10, 1858
• It was built as an after thought to add
a clock tower after another building
burnt down
• It was built so people can know what
time it is

10. Buckingham Palace
• This is Buckingham Palace
• It was originally built in 1702 as
the “London House”
• To serve as a House for Royalty
• It still serves the same purpose
it served over 300 years ago

11. Leaning Tower of Pisa
• This is the Leaning Tower of Pisa
• August 9, 1173 was when this tower
was built
• This tower was built to show the
world how rich the city of Pisa was
• It is used as a sentimental object that
symbolizes how you should use your
imagination

12. Statue of Liberty
• This is the Statue of Liberty
• The statue was built in 1884
• It was built for the United States
by France as a gift
• It serves today as a reminder of
our allies in France and as a
symbol of hope for our country

13. Lincoln Memorial
Statue
• This is Lincoln Memorial Statue
• It was built from 1914-1917
• It was built to remember our
16th president Abraham Lincoln
• Today it still serves as a
reminder of what he gave and
lost for our country

14. White house
• This is the White House
• Was built between 1792 and 1800
• It was built for the original
residence for the President of the
United States
• Today it still serves its purpose as
the main residence for the
president

15. Sistine Chapel
• This is the Sistine Chapel
• Was built in August 9, 1843
• It was used for a residence for
the pope of its day
• Today it serves as more of a
museum, art more specifically

16. Taj Mahal
• This is the Taj Mahal
• Was built between 1632 to 1648
• This temple was built in memory of
the wife of the emperor Shah Jahan
• It serves today as a magnificent
tomb and also as a museum

17. The Golden Gate
Bridge
• This is the Golden Gate Bridge
• It was built in 1937 (completed)
• The bridge was made to make a faster
more efficient way to get across The
San Francisco Bay for commuters
• Today it still serves the purpose it was
made for in the first place

18. Stone Hedge
• This is the Stone Hedge
• Was built between 2800-1800
BC
• It has appeared to be built for
astronomical observations
• Today it just serves as a place of
interest

19. Wailing Wall
• This is the Wailing Wall
• The wailing wall is believed to be
2,000 years old
• It was built as an extension of
the second Jewish temple
• The wall still serves as a sacred
place for jews to pray

20. The Dome of the Rock
• This is the Dome of the Rock
• Was built in 687 A.C.
• Was built for a main place of
worship for muslims
• Today it still is sacred but isn’t as
frequently used

21. Sphinx
• This is the Sphinx
• It was built 10,000 to 8,000 years
ago
• It was built to represent the
reigning Pharaoh in the form of a
lion or god
• Today it serves as a reminder of
how great the Egyptians were in
their day
