Rising CO2 emissions are the primary cause of increasing global temperatures and climate change impacts like flooding in Mumbai, droughts in Beed, and cyclones in Visakhapatnam. To address this, countries and organizations are increasingly investing in renewable energy and improving energy efficiency. While China is the largest investor in renewables and several countries get most of their electricity from renewable sources, India is also transitioning by reducing resource and energy use, increasing efficiency, and encouraging individuals to measure and lower their carbon footprint through lifestyle changes and carbon offsetting. International cooperation and a shared commitment to sustainable development are helping drive solutions.
