6. तर्पण योग्य/
THOSE FIT FOR TARPANA THERAPY
• तनिाते तर्पणं योज्यं शुद्ियोैः मूद्पिकाययोैः
काले सािारणे प्रातैः सायं िोत्तानशातयनैः
1 शुद्ियोैः मूद्पिकाययोैः. - who have purified both
head by nasya and body by vamana, virecana and
vasti
2 काले सािारणे. - temperate season
3. both in प्रातैः / morning and सायं / evening
4. प्रायं िोत्तानशातयनैः - lying with his face upwards
5 तनिाते .- in room devoid of breeze
7. PROCEDURE
• यिमार्मयीं र्ाल ं नेत्रकोशात ् बहहैः समाम्
द्ियङ्गुलोच्छ््ां दृढां कृ त्िा यथास्िं भसद्िमािर्ेत ्
a wall is constructed with
· the paste prepared from yava / barley;
masha / black gram
· around the socket - resembling a well
· at a height of 2 angulas
8. • सवर्पतनपमील्यते नेत्रे तप्ताम्िु प्रविलातयतम्
· keeping eyelids closed
· medicated ghee which is liquefied by
hot water
· is poured into the well
· up to the level of tips of eye lashes
• अर्क्ष्माग्रात ् अथोन्मेर्ं शनकस्तस्य कु िपतैः
· ask the patient to open the eyes slowly
and retain the drug
11. अनन्तर क्रक्रया /
AFTER MATRA KALA
• कृ त्िार्ाङ्गे ततो द्िारं स्नेहं र्ात्रे तनगोलयेत्
वर्बेतच्छ्् िूमं , नेक्षेत व्योम रूर्ं ् िास्िरम ्
· sneha / fat material should be
removed through a hole done at outer
canthus / angle of the eye
· inhalation of smoke
· not to look directly at bright sky /
objects
12. TARPANADAYS
• इत्थं प्रततहदनं िायौ , वर्त्ते त्िेकान्तरं, कफे
स्िस्थे ् ह्यन्तरं दद््यादात्रुजप्तरेतत योियेत्
1.
for
vata - daily
2. for pitta - alternate
days
3. kapha and healthy - interval of 2
days / till the eyes become fully
satiated
13. SAMYAKTARPANALAKSHANA
• प्रकाशक्षमता स्िास््यं विशदं लघु लो्नम ्
तृप्ते,
1.प्रकाशक्षमता - ability to withstand bright light
2.स्िास््यं - normalcy in size, shape, colour etc
3. विशदं - clearness / absence of sliminess
4 लघु लो्नम्. - feeling of lightness
17. pathya -apathya
• यािन्त्यहातन युञ्िीत द्विस्ततो हहतमांििेत्
मालतीमजल्लकार्ुष्र्बपद्िाक्षो तनबसेजन्नशाम्
those who has undergone tarpana and putapaka
should adhere to
· healthy foods and activities for double the
number of days of these therapies
· during nights, he should bind the eyes with a
pad of flowers like malati, mallika etc.
19. • स्नेहर्ीता तनुररि क्लान्ता दृजष्टहहप सीदतत
तर्पणानन्तरं तस्मात् दृक्र बलािानकाररणम्
र्ुटर्ाकं प्रयुञ्िीत र्ूिोक्तेष्िेि यक्ष्मसु
just as the body become fatigued after
drinking of fats
· eyes also become fatigued after tarpana
therapy
· so in order to restore the strength to the
eyes
· putapaka therapy should be done in
diseases mentioned earlier
20. र्ुटर्ाक िेद / TYPES
– स िाते स्नेहनैः , श्लेष्म सहहते लेखनो हहतैः
दृक् दौबपल्य अतनले वर्त्तेरक्ते स्िस्थे प्रसादनैः

in disorders of vata, pitta and

21. PUTAPAKA DRAVYAS
1. SNEHANA
• िूशयप्रसहानूर्मेदोमज्ििसाभमर्ैः
स्नेहनं र्यसा वर्ष्टैःिीिनीयश्् कल्र्येत ्
1.fat
2. muscle fat
3. juice of meat of animals
which lives in burrows
• which bite / cut their foods- cow, horse etc
• which live in marshy lands

4. with drugs of jivaniya gana macerated with milk
22. 2. LEKHANA
• मृगर्क्षक्षयक्रु त्मांसमुक्तायस्ताम्रसन्ििैः
स्रोतोिराशङ्खफे न आललेखानं मस्तुकजल्कतैः
1. mastu /water of yoghurt macerated with the paste
of
· liver of animals and birds
· pearls
· ash of iron and copper
· salt
· srotonjana / antimony - sulphide
· ash of conch shell
· cuttle fish
· orpiment
23. 3. PRASADANA
• मृगर्क्षक्षयकृ त्मज्ििसास््रुदयाभमर्ैः
मिुरैःसघृतैः स्तन्यक्षीरवर्ष्टैः प्रसादनम्
1. by the use of milk or breast milk macerated with the
· liver
· marrow
· muscle fat
· muscle of intestines
· heart of animals and birds
· drugs of sweet taste
· mixed with ghee
24. र्ुटर्ाक कल्र्ना/
PREPARINGTHE MEDICINE
• बबल्िमात्रं र्ृथक् वर्ण्डं मांसं िेर्िकल्कयोैः
उरुबूकिटाम्िोिर्त्रैः स्नेहहदर्ु क्रमात्
िेष्टतयत्िा मृदा भलप्तं िििन्िनगोमयैः
र््ेत्प्रद प्तैः अग्न्यािं र्क्िं तनष्र्ीड्य तद्रसम्
नेत्रे तर्पणित् युञ्ज्यात्
1. the meat of animals and drugs should be made into balls
· each of the size of a bilva fruit or 1 pala in quantity
2. should be wrapped in leaves of
· urubuka,
· vata
· or amboja

4. the ball giving a coating of mud
5. dry it
6. when dry , they are placed inside the fire of
· wood of dhava or dhanvana
· or dried cow dung
7. cooked till the balls become fire like / red in
appearence
8. after they cool off,
· the paste of drugs is taken out
· juice is extracted from it
· should be put into the eyes in the same manner as that
of tarpana therapy
27. TEMPERATURE OF DRUG
• कोष्णौ र्ूिौ, हहम अर्रैः
• िूमर्ैः अन्ते तयोरेि
at the end of lekhana and snehana putapaka, inhalation of
drug should be done
योगास्तत्र ् तृजप्तित्
the signs and symptoms of proper, inadequate or excess
therapy are similar to those mentioned under tarpana
therapy
• - luke warmlekhana and
snehana
• · - cold· prasadana

िायत एकरूर्म ्
all our efforts should be made to
strengthen the eyes by resorting to
nasya, anjana, tarpana etc. for
· once the vision is lost, the different
kinds of things of the world will all
become one kind only - that of darkness
