K-Electric Limited formerly known as Karachi Electric Supply Company Limited (KESC) is at present the only vertically-
integrated power utility in Pakistan that manages the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity to the city. The
Company covers a vast area of over 6,500 square kilometres and supplies electricity to all the industrial, commercial, agricultural
and residential areas that come under its network, comprising over 2.2 million customers in Karachi and in the nearby towns of
Dhabeji and Gharo in Sindh and Hub, Uthal, Vindar and Bela in Baluchistan.
ASSISTANT MANAGER – Finance (Payroll & Funds Dept) July 2014 – Present
Promoted as Assistant Manager Finance and deputed to Payroll & Funds Department where I am primarily responsible to look after the
areas of monthly payroll activities and managing activities of newly formed recognized Gratuity fund. My area of responsibilities
include but not limited to:
 Preparation of financial statements of K- Electric employees’ gratuity fund for Trustees of the fund and for audit purpose.
 Proper monitoring and reporting of K- Electric employees’ gratuity fund accounts, legal and compliances issues to trustees of
the fund.
 Have been an active part of the project team who was responsible for the complete integration of K- Electric Employees
Gratuity Funds` accounts into SAP after establishment of recognized “K-Electric Employees Gratuity Fund”.
 Supervise the process of preparation of reconciliations (Bank recon, profit Recon, Receivable Vs Payable recon etc,) with
respect to K- Electric employees’ gratuity funds` accounts on monthly basis and to ensure proper recording and completeness
of monthly transactions that need to be reflected into GL accounts of K- Electric employees’ gratuity fund.
 To review, analyze and report alternative investment opportunities to trustees of the Fund.
 To monitor internal control system at regular interval to ensure chances of errors and omissions that may affect accounts of K-
Electric employees’ gratuity fund are controlled.
 Supervise and process all payroll related activities (Monthly payroll process, verification of payroll data, on time and accurate
disbursement of salaries to employees) through SAP on monthly basis.
 Verification of changes arises in employee’s salary due to annual increment and promotions before these changes being-

incorporated into SAP.
 Preparation of K- Electric employees Salary budget of payroll finance department.
 To provide relevant data to actuaries as and when required against employees benefits for actuarial valuation of gratuity and
other retirement related benefits.
 To verify and review Income Tax liability of employees deductible against their taxable salaries
 To Implement and update the SAP about changes and amendments occurring in current tax laws and practices.
 To prepare monthly and annual WHT reports that need to be send to in-house taxation department to ensure timely E-filing of
these on FBR Portal.
 To established effective liaison with Internal as well as External Auditors of both K- Electric Ltd and K- Electric Employees
Gratuity Fund and provide them with required data as and when required in connection with annual & half yearly Audits.
ACCA (Finance) Trainee – Corporate Taxation March 2012 – June 2014
As part of the rotation policy for ACCA trainees, I had been Transferred to Corporate Taxation Department where I was under direct
supervision of Deputy general Manager - Tax and also held responsible to assist Manager Income Tax and Manager Sales Tax in their
area of responsibilities.
My area of responsibilities were included but not limited to:
Income Tax:
 To prepare E-payments of WHT deducted at source and ensure timely deposit into Govt. Treasury.
 To prepare monthly WHT statements and ensure timely E-filing of these on FBR Portal.
 To established good liaison with Controlling & Accounting and Payroll department for any details / information needed for compliances (e-
filing of monthly WHT statement).
 To monitor compliance issues related to WHT payments / e-filing of WHT statements on routine basis and keep manager updated about any
outstanding liabilities.
 To assist manager in preparation of replies in response to various queries received from Taxation Authorities.
 To provide Tax Consultants with any information / details with respect to various ongoing assessments and to maintain a timely follow up
regarding suits / appeals filed in courts and Tax offices.
 To coordinate with controlling & accounting, procurement and other concerned departments to improve their understandings with regard to
changes arise in current tax laws declared by Taxation authorities / FBR from time to time.
 To prepare and extract reports through SAP pertaining to various regions / types of consumers with regard to electricity consumption / taxes
