• Program Cancellation/Unplanned Incentive Reductions
(i.e. AZ - Salt River Project & Arizona Public Service Co., CO – Xcel & Black Hills
Energy, WI- WE Energies)
• Expiring/Sunsetting Incentives (i.e. 1603 Treasury Program, rebate
programs in Ohio and Massachusetts)

8. Playing Defense:
More Public Education is Needed
• Combat misperception that green jobs don’t exist
through highest quality research
• Combat multi-million dollar misinformation campaigns
through myth-busting workshops for local gov’ts
– Example: ACCCE spends ~$40M/year on ads promoting “clean coal” and
demoting renewables
– Example: Oil and gas companies spent ~$154M on lobbying in 2009
(which is 10x the amount spent on lobbying for renewables)
• Combat pay-for-play school curricula from coal, oil and
gas companies with more balanced energy education
– Example: ACF spent $300k to develop coal biased lesson plans in 2009
