2. When an opportunity
arises, DigiVOX steps up!
DigiVOX consistently
contributes towards the
growth and development
of digital in South Africa,
through whatever means
possible and at every
given opportunity.
3. Founder and Managing
Director, Andrea Mitchell
is well-reputed for her
commitment to education
and training to help
address the shortage of
skills in the industry, and
has continually been
involved in education in
digital in various
capacities. This ethos has
been firmly planted
throughout DigiVOX.
4. DigiVOX hosted two interns late
last year, who spent a period of 6
weeks in each division of the
business learning about Display
Advertising, Search, Social Media
and Design. Not mere
spectators, their skills were put
to the test prior to their
departure to ensure that they
could put what they’d learned,
back into the industry.
Various ad-hoc workshops have
taken place through the year for
companies such as Media Shop
CT, Jupiter Drawing Room and
WHEAT Trust.
5. As Head of Research for the DMMA last year (2011), Mitchell was instrumental in
conducting ground-breaking research, as well as many smaller vertical projects
throughout the year which focused on Motoring, Finance and Retail to name but a
few.
Mitchell was re-elected to the 2012 Exco, but sadly had to step down due to over
commitments. She has however continued to be of great assistance various
members of the 2012 DMMA Exco.
6. The “Digital Media Evaluation Amongst Marketers” research project which delved
not only into the reality (not Nielsen’s data which does not include SA online
advertising spend outside of SA) of South African online spend of The Top 100
Advertisers in South Africa but also addressed perceptions, current investment and
future planned investment, per digital channel, was Andrea’s pet project for the
year and many, many hours were committed to this project. Andrea needed to
involve the entire DigiVOX team in order to see it come to fruition.
DigiVOX was also the author of the current DMMA’s Essential Guide to Digital
Marketing and Advertising in South Africa.
7. During 2012, AAA School of Advertising
approached Andrea Mitchell/DigiVOX to
host a Digital Bootcamp. The Digital
Bootcamp provided an up-to-date
understanding of the digital environment
and equipped delegates (both AAA
students as well as those outside of AAA)
with hands-on digital marketing and
advertising skills. It was ensured that
DMMA was seen as a partner in this
initiative.
Anthea Whitehead, marketing faculty
Head of AAA commented : “AAA
acknowledges the shortage of digital skills
in the industry and has hence teamed up
with Andrea Mitchell to bridge the gap.”
Mitchell conducted the AAA training,
under the auspices of DMMA.
8. DigiVOX’s Social Media
team ran the DMMA
Twitter and Facebook
pages last year, and
conducted social media
training for DMMA’s PR
Company.
It was also responsible for
the then design of both
the Facebook and Twitter
DMMA pages, and
Bookmarks pages.
9. Imparting and sharing knowledge and empowerment is a constant focus for the DigiVOX
team. As the industry is ever-changing and evolves by the minute, the weekly DigiVOX Blog
and Social Media pages aim to issue relevant and current news and industry developments.
We’re particularly interested in keeping brands and fellow industry members up-to-date
with advancements and occurrences that could advance brands in the digital landscape.
10. Mitchell has also judged many online
marketing initiatives (including Creative
Circle and Bookmarks) and the team has
tackled many education initiatives and
industry challenges.
11. The DigiVOX team regularly produces
thought leading articles to help educate.
12. As if client commitments don't keep DigiVOX busy enough, they are committed to
growth of digital regardless of whether they see the revenue from their efforts or
not, and constantly promote the DMMA as THE benchmark when it comes to
education and training in digital in SA, and will continue to do so.
