Preferred for short bridges.
Too much time consuming.
Involves the following process :
1. erection on ground supported staging
2. casting of concrete
3. dismantling of staging.
This method has been divided into three parts :
1. cast in-situ post tensioned
2. balanced cantilever
3. incrementally launched.
3. Example: Balduinstein River Bridge
The first cast-in-situ river bridge was built in 1950 across
the Lahn River in Balduinstein, Germany.
Construction method - Balanced cantilever method.
Main span – 62 m.
Superstructure – Pre-stressed concrete.
