2. Sarni Mine, Pathakhera was opened in 1979 with total lease
area of 509 Hectare.
There are 2 workable seams:
Upper Workable Seam (UWS) & Lower Workable Seam
(LWS)
And 1 non-workable seam: Bagdona seam with average
thickness of 2.2 m ,4.5 m and 1.2 m respectively.
 The Average gradient is 1 in 6-7 and depth of LWS is 44-175
m and UWS is 20-150 m.
There are 4 openings connected to surface, Two air shafts (
one main return and other for intake) and two incline for
transport of men & material.

3.  There are 8 LHDs ( 2 in UWS & 6 in LWS) loading directly into
belt conveyors and 1 in UWS loading directly into bunker.
From Sarni Extension, The Coal is Transported through TB2 &
TB3 to 4L strata bunker having capacity of 425 Te and to
surface through TB1.
 Coal from Old Sarni is transported to 30R bunker having
capacity of 131 Te through GB2 & GB3 and to surface through
GB1, GB2 and TB1.
 The coal is then fed to CHP, which has direct dispatch system
to MPEB. Some part is also loaded via Road Sale.

for safety.
6. The Explosive is of slurry type known as PETN( Ammonium
Nitrate + Glycerine), packed in capsules of 150 gm.
7. Cement Capsule Contents:
Fold Cement, Gypsum, Sand, Potassium Sulphate
8. In each shift 75-80 Kg Explosive is used.

DRILL PANELS
ABC and Volga made drill panels used at Sarni Mine. Pilot core
earth leakage and overload protection is being maintained.
Proper earthing is done through GI wire.
 DRILL MACHINES
1.5 Hp, 125V, 450 RPM
‘RANA’ and ‘CHANDA’ made coal drills are being used.
LIGHTING
550V/110 KVA Lighting transformers have been installed in every
district and are their mid-point earthed.
FLP Type 2x20W, 110V Lighting fitting is provided.
