Both Explorer trims are fitted with Ford's Ti-VCT (Twin independent variable camshaft timing)engine and paired with new six-speed automatic transmissions. The base 3.5-liter V6 powers out 290 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 Explorer also has another engine option - a more efficient, turbocharged/direct-injected EcoBoost technology - 2.0-liter four that gets 237 horsepower.<br />The 2011 Ford Explorer seats seven in a more quieter and more attractive cabin environment.
