2. 8 million tons of plastic
enter the ocean every
year
This causes many serious
issues throughout the
Hawaiian islands
3. The Sea Bin is new technology that sucks in water and
trash, which gets caught in a catch bag filter.
The water is then pumped back into the marina, leaving
the trash behind to be disposed of.
4. The Seabin Project:started
by two surfers with a passion for
the ocean
mission: “HAVE POLLUTION
FREE OCEANS FOR OUR FUTURE
GENERATIONS”
5. • They have now raised
$267,567 on Indiegogo
alone & plan to get the
Sea Bin across the globe
• Additional funding for
project from
investments, selling t-
shirts, hats & artwork.
• Each bin costs $3,825
6. The project is taking a stand against plastic pollution through also selling reusable
products and teaching thousands about the harmful effects of plastic.
The Sea Bin is already located at marinas and docks around several countries
around the world. In 2018 the Sea Bin project plans to expand from Europe to
Australia.
7. The sea bin is not yet in effect on the beaches in
Hawaii but could easily be used throughout the
islands to collect trash and debris.
8. Possible solution: use virtual reality headsets to create a beach
cleanup game where you win by the amount of pieces you pick
up, etc.
9. This will encourage a fun, exciting way to
make a positive impact on the plastic
polluting our beaches.
