This document discusses various tooth brushing techniques. It describes the horizontal scrub method, vibratory motion, Bass or Stillman method, Charter method, vertical sweeping motion, modified Bass, modified Charter, Leonard, and rolling stroke techniques. It provides details on how to perform the Bass, Stillman's, Charter's, and Fone's circular motion methods. The Bass method is described as the most effective for removing plaque and biofilm and preventing periodontal disease. The document recommends the modified Stillman's method for cases of gingival recession and root exposure, the Charter method after periodontal surgery, and the Bass method for periodontal diseases. It indicates that the Fone's circular motion is recommended for children.
3. Proper tooth brushing is very
important to maintain :oral
hygiene,
By proper tooth brushing u wll able to remove food
debris and plaque:result prevent dental caries
Gingivitis
Periodontitis

Horrizental reciprocating Motion
horizontal scrub method
Vibratory motion
Bass or stillman method
charter method
Vertical sweeping motion
modified bass
modified charter
leonard
Rolling stroke
7. Advantage;
This is simpl method use by every one
Disadvantage:
cause cervicle abrasion when use for long duration
Suleman khan
8. Bass Or SulculaR METhOD
Most EFFective method because of its
property to romove plaque or biofilm; and
clean the area inside gingival margin
Which help to prevent periodontal disease
9.
10. Method
Bristles are directed apically at 45degree to long axis of tooth
Now press the bristles slightly so tht they enter the gingival sulcus and
embrasures
Vibrate the brush back and forth with short strokes for 10-15 strokes for each
position and move to next teeth
Indication :
For proximal areas ;clening of cervical areas beneath hoc, incase of
exposed root surface
11. Stillman,s method
Similar to bass with slight modification to remove debris more effectively
from embrasures
Bristles are directed apically and angles same as bass, bristles are place
partly over cervical of tooth and partly over adjacent gingiva
12. Indication:
In case of gingival recession , gingival stimulation,
remove plaqaue from cervical region
clean large embrasure

13. CHARTER’s method
It is effective method use for any appliances in oral cavity _it cleans interproximal areas
between teeth
METhoD
position the bristles towards the bristles or crown of tooth_the side of
bristles are placed in gingival margin at 45degree to long axis of tooth,
Short back and forth strokes are given most likely vibratory motion

15. indication
use for cleaning interproximal areas,
Used in case of fixed prosthodontics
Incase of patient having orthodontic treatment
Patients who have undergone periodontal surgery
suleman khan
17. MEthoD:
place the tooth brush on set of tooth
Press bristles against tooth surface and give circular motion 4-5 time on each
set of tooth
18. ROLL STROKE BRUSHING TECHNIQUE
Simple brushing technique which does not need such practicing
All u have to do this by placing the bristles on gingiva towards the root and give
upward stroke towards occlusal surface
METHoD:
bristles are pointed apical towards the root and placed on gingival margin
Stroke is given to roll the brush occlusally-
cleaning the interproximal ang tooth surface on
one stroke
21. TooTH brushing technique
Recommended in PERIoDONtAl DISEASE

after periodontal surgery
