My Responsibilities - 1
• A	core	team	member	involved	from	the	very	beginning
– 2007	Q4	to	2010	Q2
Only 5 Honeywellers were keep on during the whole long project phase
• FEED	(Front	End	Engineering	Design)	Phase
– FEED	Documentation	– AMS	Functional	Detailed	Specification	
– Review	of	AMS	part	of	Technical	Proposal.
– Lead	and	Perform	an	interoperability	test	with	valves	from	
Mansoneilan/Samson/Yamatake.
– Provide	help	and	support	for	other	team	members	(Project	
Manager/Engineering	Manager/Hardware	Engineer/Software	
Engineer)	in	other	activities
• Polyethylene	process	backgrounds
• The	experience	on	the	cooperation	with	EPCs	in	the	past

– Project	Engineering	Power	in	CCR4	till	FAT	and	shipment
– As	the	Engineering	and	site	service	leader	of	CCR3

– Hardware	and	Software	Design
– Project	Planning	and	Project	Schedule	- cooperate	with	Project	Controller
– Enhance	the	engineering	standardization	via	FEED	document
– Enhance	the	customer	management,	push	customer	to	provide	the	design	input	on	
time	on	quality
• Factory	Acceptance	Test	&	Site	Services
– Open	crate/installation	instruction/power	on/Site	Commissioning/Site	Training/Plant

– Coach	2	new	Honeywell	employees,	who	are	in	charge	of	5	other	Units	and

My	rolling	average	calculation	is	very	precise	
and	is	used	as	a	template	to	share	with	other	
project	engineers.

The 2 new employees grow up to be qualified Lead Engineers
It	is	impossible	to	use	all	
experienced		Honeywell	engineers	
due	to	other	mega	projects.
There	are	2	fresh	engineers	who	are	
direct	report	to	me,	they	are	quite	
new	to	Process	industry
For	long	term	professional	
development	new	employee	need	
more	challenges	to	be	trained	as	a	
lead	engineer.
Challenges Solutions
To	Honeywell	New	Employee
More	encourage	and	share	the	experience	of	
myself	as	a	new	comer	
Request	them	to	write	down	the		working	
procedures	to	share	with	each	other
More	communications	with	customers	and	
EPCs	to	help	them	feel	ease
Learn	from	each	other.	One	is	good	at	
network	and	the	other	is	good	at	PLC.
Results
The	2	Honeywell	new	engineers	turn	to	be	
qualified	to	be	in	charge	of		one	complex	
chemical	unit	as	a	lead	engineer.

Many 3rd party HMI Resources grow up to be Configuration Engineers
Many	new	external	fresh	Low	Cost	
Engineers	from	subcontractors	for	
cost	reasons	and	resources	
limitations.
Even	to	Honeywell’s	subcontract	
partners	most	of	experienced		
resources	are	already	occupied	by	
other	mega	projects.
Most	of	the	LCEs		are	zero	
experienced	in	career.
All	LCEs	are	eager	to	learn	some	
new	things	and	strong	willing	to	be	
growing	up	enough.
Challenges Solutions
To	LCEs
Trust	them	and	treat	them	the	same	as		
Honeywellers
Effective	on-job	training	by	myself
Give	them	great	responsibilities	and	keep	
good	tracking	of	the	quality.	
Results
Motivated	and	active
Through	the	practice	in	my	team,	3	Junior	
new	comers		subcontractors		is	turned	out		to	
be		qualified	engineers.	Their	labor	rate	
increased	form	5	to	10-15USD/Hr.

New means more bugs and unpredicted risk The first Experion PKS and C300 hardware of large sale use in Sinopec Market I have only limited experience knowledge base of Experion. Differences between TPS I am familiar and PKS Challenges Keeping on learning and master the details Make good use of Honeywell Intranet resources Ask help from global expert and experienced engineers Top management involved to set up a high priority communication channel for Development team to us Document all the guidelines for team sharing. My rolling average calculation is very precise and is used as a template to share with other project engineers. Use configuration template and standard procedure to make the teamwork more effective and standardized. Solutions

There are 2 fresh engineers who are direct report to me, they are quite new to Process industry For long term professional development new employee need more challenges to be trained as a lead engineer. Challenges Solutions To Honeywell New Employee More encourage and share the experience of myself as a new comer Request them to write down the working procedures to share with each other More communications with customers and EPCs to help them feel ease Learn from each other. One is good at network and the other is good at PLC. Results The 2 Honeywell new engineers turn to be qualified to be in charge of one complex chemical unit as a lead engineer.

Even to Honeywell’s subcontract partners most of experienced resources are already occupied by other mega projects. Most of the LCEs are zero experienced in career. All LCEs are eager to learn some new things and strong willing to be growing up enough. Challenges Solutions To LCEs Trust them and treat them the same as Honeywellers Effective on-job training by myself Give them great responsibilities and keep good tracking of the quality. Results Motivated and active Through the practice in my team, 3 Junior new comers subcontractors is turned out to be qualified engineers. Their labor rate increased form 5 to 10-15USD/Hr. The initial margin rate is nearly 0, which is quite tough from the prospect of project management.
