• Number of pet shops visited- Six, marked as A,B,C,D E and F.
• All shops were non exclusive to any particular animal species.
• The sample shops were situated in the local neighborhood
market.
• Adequate approval was sought by the shopkeeper for the
usage of this information.
• The emphasize was to indulge in creative ways to assist the
sales in hese shops further.

Some of the major findings are as follows:-
• Availability of dog accessories section in every shop eg : leash collars,
combs etc
• Variety in terms of both quantity and quality of pet food was found
• Every shop worked towards achieving maximum customer satisfaction.
• Availability of fully trained staff members in some of the sample shops

SUGGESTIONS NEW OUTLOOK
• Shop A, D and F need to relocate the section
on the front , hence increasing the visibility and
attracting more eye balls.
• All the shops must provide fun manuals and
hazard instructions with each product
•The section need to be fun and lively .
8. PET FOOD SECTIONS
PET SHOP
FEATURES
• All the stores were found to stock large quantities
of Pet food!
• The section were not arranged in uniformity
• Store A and F in particular had a rich variation in
terms of variety , price and quality of food
available.
SUGGESTIONS
• The Shop owners can introduce few sample tasting
for some of the newly introduced products
• A diet chart for different animals can be quite UNIFORMED SECTIONS
informative for the pet lovers
• A quality conformation certificate should be
displayed
• The stacking of the products on the shelves could
be more user friendly.
• The popular and basic food items should be
displayed at the prominence.
9. CUSTOMER SATISFACTIONS
FINDINGS SAMPLE PET SHOP
• All shops were focused on achieving 100% customer
satisfaction
• Shop F differentiated among its rivals by introducing an onsite
vet
• Most of the products on display had warranty
• Shop A provided gift vouchers with many products to its
customers
• Shops B, E and D followed price strategy as they provided
several products at low prices.
SUGGESTIONS
A customer friendly shop
• An attempt should be made to create a fun zone for various
pets.
• Price – Quality balance should be strived always
• Home deliveries and other personalized services like pet
grooming should be introduced
• A well updated stock should always be maintained.
• The interiors of the shop should be carefully planned if the
customers wish to bring along the pets
10. STAFF CURRENT MOOD OF THE SHOPS
FEATURES
• The average number of staff members
employed was 3.
• Shop A, C and D had fully trained staff
members.
• Shop F had an onsite vet as well.
SUGGESTIONS
• All the staff members should be fully trained.
• Every shop must be prepared to handle an SMILING STAFF
emergency situation
• The objective should be to provide an holistic
experience to the customers
• The pets and their owners must be greeted
with smiling faces
• Staff should be able both informative and
proactive
11. OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
• Staff should be well informed and active towards care, welfare,
feeding, and watering of animals.
• Special emphasize on cleaning and proper hygiene.
• Every pet should have its own vaccination and diet chart.
• Follow up checks should be conducted to ensure the animals are
well adapting to their new arrangements.
• Fun activities and special events like dating-mating for Pets day,
grooming days should be organized.
• Regular check ups should be conducted
• To differentiate from competitors a mix of
price-quality strategy should be introduced.
