The demand for online education is growing at a rapid pace and universities are trying to figure out how to participate in this trend. However, in order for universities to promote online study programmes, they need to understand the global demand for online education. Data from DistanceLearningPortal.com, the world's premier information portal on online and distance education, now reveals some of the hard facts regarding online education demand.

The data shows that the highest demand for online education is in the United Kingdom, which represents 15,1% of the total demand in the world, and most online students are between 25-29. Regarding the online study programmes, most of them are at the Bachelor level (69%) and from the field of Business and Economics (29%).
