NOW RESIDENT IN FRANCE AFTER A SUCCESSFUL 30 YEAR CAREER IN THE MARINE, ENERGY AND
LOGISTICS SUPPORT BUSINESS. CURRENTLY RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL HOLIDAY HOME BUSINESS
ALONGSIDE PROVIDING EXPERT ADVICE AND CONSULTANCY SERVICES IN THE SHIP REPAIR, OIL &
ENERGY AND FABRICATION INDUSTRIES
CAREER SUMMARY / EXPERIENCE
My career started in 1984 as Messenger Boy in a ship Repair business. I then progressed through the Commercial
Department and 13 years later was Commercial Manager for a GBP30 million O&G FPSO conversion contract. 1997 to
1999 I worked as Contract Manager for a marine contracting company. In 2000 I returned to the company where I
started my career and after 9 years I accepted the role of Managing Director a position I held for three years before
leaving to travel Europe for 12 months. I then became General Manager for a major new development, the Neptune
Energy Park on the River Tyne. After nearly a year I decided the timing was right for me to follow my ambitions to
move to France and run a holiday home business as well as continuing to provide expert advice and consultancy
services. I have acquired vast experience during my career not only in the marine industry but also in diversifying the
business into the oil & gas, offshore wind renewables and ship building sectors. I also spent time as a governor at a
local marine college and have also been significantly involved with local trade organisations, members of parliament,
local councillors, skills sector councils, apprenticeship task forces, business forums and employment regional councils.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
I have a high standard of business conduct and ethics dealing with all situations with integrity and honesty. I have a
good knowledge of the technical equipment used in heavy engineering, oil & gas, ship conversion, building and repair
industries. I have excellent communication skills in the English language, both verbal and written. I am proactive and
have a strong sense of customer service orientation. Throughout my career I have demonstrated initiative, active
listening skills and I am result oriented. I possess excellent technical, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making,
organisational, leadership, negotiation, interpersonal skills and can demonstrate a track record in business
development as well as being flexible and able to adapt to changing situations and work environments.
