2. NEIL BEDFORD
Neil Bedford is a British photographer who has worked with the
Indie/Alternative magazine Clash as well as GQ Style and The
Green Soccer Journal among his magazine work and with
brands such as Adidas and Paul Smith.
His style is unique and simple; his photography of people is
often close up which is a style I like and works well for
magazines especially for the cover page. Bedford often uses
black and white within his photos for a monochrome looks,
which makes the images stand out and look individual. Another
technique that Bedford uses within his photos is the use of
shadows to insinuate features and create empathise on certain
aspects of the photo. This technique catches attention and
would draw people into the magazine.
3. EMMA SUMMERTON
Emma Summerton is an Australian world renown fashion photographer
who works for magazines such as many different international editions
of Vogue as well as fashion companies and shops ect alike. Her work is
based on the use of highlighting and working with colours, as this
allows for her photographs to stand out and attract audiences. Another
important aspect of Summerton’s work is scale and texture; she
experiments with scale to focus in and the different textures create a
contrast within her photos to draw the audiences around the page.
These effects and techniques create a modern graphic edge which
makes Summerton’s work stand out from the rest.
As shown below colour is an important aspect of her work, which
creates an eye catching cover that jumps out at audiences and this is
inspired by her Australian roots and upbringing. I personally really like
this use of colour and will take this into consideration while creating my
magazine.

pull the page together. This use of circles, shadows and light
are key factors within Massaro’s work.
