A set of wooden cabinets
A set of windows
A set of large fans (backstage to blow on crushed

4. Stage Design/Selection of Bus
Stop
•
Proscenium Stage
• The way the Bus
Stop layout is
designed is perfect
for this stage
because the picture
shows that there are
3 walls used
(backstage, offstage
right, offstage left)
•
Checkered Tile Floor
• Since Bus Stop took
place in a 50’s
diner, I think of
checkered tile
floors, waiters/waitr
esses on roller
skates, etc. because
it has a classic feel
to it; think of “Sonic”
restaurants

5. Dining Area Design
•
Round Table
• There will be 2 round metal
tables in the dining area (1 on
center stage and 1 down right of
the stage)
•
Dining Chair
• There will be a total of 8
dining chairs (4 chairs on
each table)
• The chairs will be
oriented to where the
tables are in a
perpendicular fashion

6. Bar/Kitchen Design
•
Wooden Countertop
• The wooden countertop
will be placed in the
left center and down
left area of the stage at
a southeast diagonal
(in between the
kitchen and 5 stools)
•
Red Barstool
• There will be 5 red
barstools oriented
parallel to the wooden
countertop
• The red barstool
compliments the
checkered tile floor and
gives the environment
of the diner a retro
look

7. Bar/Kitchen Design Cont.
•
Sink, Fridge, Wooden
Cabinets
• These props will be
oriented on the other
side of the wooden
countertop opposite of
where the stools are
(parallel)
• Order of props from
top to bottom: fridge
and then cabinets/sink
• The bar/kitchen is
where Grace and Elma
will be mostly spending
their time at because
that’s where they
work; their workstation

8. Other Prop Designs
Bookshelf (filled with
magazines/books) with a copy of
“Romeo and Juliet” by William
Shakespeare
•
The bookshelf will be oriented in
the up right are of the stage
•
The William Shakespeare play is
a vital part to Bus Stop because
the play of “Romeo and Juliet”
is used to perform during Elma’s
event that she wanted to do
•
•
Bench
•
There will be 2 benches that will
be oriented in the up center are
of the stage
•
These benches will provide the
characters in the play to sit and
wait for their assigned buses to
arrive and take them to their
destination

9. Other Prop Designs Cont.
• Window
• The set of windows will be
oriented in the up center are
of the stage
• The purpose of the windows is
to provide a visual of what the
outside of the diner looks like
for the audience to see
• Fake Franklin Stove
• The fake franklin stove will be
oriented to the up left center of
the stage
• The reason why an artificial (fake)
fire is used is because of the
hazards of a real fire burning down
the stage
• The stove also serves as a way to
warm up the characters in the play
• Pegs
• The pegs will be oriented in the
right center of the stage
• The purpose of the pegs is so the
characters can hang up their
coats/jackets

10. Backstage Prop Designs

large fans oriented in the
backstage areas of the
stage (close to the doors)
• The purpose of the fans is
to create a wind and
chilling effect
•
Crushed Styrofoam
• A person will be carrying a
bag of crushed styrofoam
backstage dropping it in
front of the fan
• The purpose of the crushed
