Wednesday, December 8, 2010<br />Florida Trend’s Golden Spoon Awards<br />What’s Cooking?<br />According to the magazine of Florida business, restaurateurs are serving up grand new cuisines this year featuring exciting new dishes sure to satisfy the most hedonistic of tastes. <br />And the Award goes to…<br />Jackson’s Steakhouse in downtown Pensacola made the 2010 Golden Spoon Hall of Fame and was noted for its down-home taste of carpetbagger bison steak paired with seared foie gras in a historic atmosphere.<br />(Note: Replace with high resolution photo from file)<br />Jackson’s Steakhouse<br />400 S. Palafox St.<br />Pensacola, FL 32502<br />Jackson’s Steakhouse opened in 1998 when a group of like-minded entrepreneurs decided to open a restaurant in honor of Andrew Jackson. It overlooks Plaza Ferdinand, where in July of 1821, Gen. Andrew Jackson accepted the transfer of Florida from Spain to the United States and raised the American flag in Pensacola for the first time.<br />Today, Jackson’s procures only grain-fed beef and fresh local seafood which is hand-selected and prepared to perfection.<br />McGuire’s Irish Pub also made the Golden Spoon’s Hall of Fame for its delicious pub grub featuring true green, boxty, bangers, lamb stew, Galway salmon and prime steaks paired with an authentic Irish porter brewed in-house.<br />(Note: or better pic here)<br />McGuire’s Irish Pub & Brewery<br />600 E. Gregory St.<br />Pensacola, FL 32501<br />McGuire’s moved to its current location, Pensacola’s original 1927 Old Firehouse, in 1982. The pub is themed a turn-of-the-century New York Irish Saloon. This historical landmark was also named “Steak House of the Year” by the National Beef Council in 1998.<br />McGuire’s is owned and operated by Molly and McGuire who started out as a waitress and cook at the original pub in 1977. When Molly made her first tip, one dollar, she tacked it to the back bar for good luck and this soon became a McGuire’s tradition.
