cumbersome traffic load,
4. The main purpose of the research is to avoid the problems of current on- street parking
situations in study areas and to understand the extent of lack of parking spaces resulting
in street congestion and to recommend appropriate solutions for current parking problems

Find out the associated problems of parking lots scarcity in dilla town,
1.4, research questions
This study is intended to answer the following research questions:
1, what are the main causes for the lack of car parking in dilla town?
2, how do the existing parking facilities in the studied area fulfill the requirements of the
road users?
3, Can lack of adequate parking spaces cause significant street congestion?
4, what is reason a traffic flow a increasing to time to time?

1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study makes an effort to assess the current on street parking
facility problems in dilla and develop practicable solutions
6. General Terms of Parking Facilities
1. Parking Accumulation:-The total number of vehicles parked in an area at a specified
moment.
2. Parking volume:-The number of vehicles parked in a particular area over a given
period of time. It is usually measured in vehicles per day.
3. Parking load:-The area under the parking accumulation curve during a specified
period.
4. Parking duration:-The length of time spent in a parking space.
5. Parking index:-Percentage of parking bays actually occupied by parked vehicles as
compared to the theoretical number available.
6. Parking turn over:-Rate of the usage of the available parking space. Thus if there were
10 parking spaces used by 100 vehicles in a period of say 12 hours then the parking
turnover would be
2.3 TYPES OF PARKING FACILITIES
1, On-street parking facilities:
2, off street parking
7. Effects of parking{wrong parking}
There are various effects of wrong parking on society as well as on environment
1. Congestion
2.Accidents
3. Obstruction
2.9 AVAILABILITY OF PARKING SPACE
PARKING NEEDS BY USER TYPE; 1. Workers
2. Shoppers and service center users
3. Visitors
4. Residents
PARKING DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
The following factors of parking area design:
I. Needs analysis;1 Parking study
2 Parking requirement factors
2 Physical requirements ;● Siting
● Miscellaneous
● Parking Area Types
● Geometry
● Access
● Maintenance
3 aesthetics and safety;
8. 2.6 THE PROBLEM OF DILLA TOWN
Asphalt road project is a within Dilla town 14.5 KM long
Dilla town the use of one way traffic flow.
I have a parking bay and also traffic flow narrow
A road dimension will influence the parking bay width and also circulation pattern.
And also high potential for accident. And also lack of a fuel,

2.5 WHY MANAGE PARKING
Reduce traffic congestion and vehicle emission created by cars circling the block, looking
for available free on-street parking
Support street level businesses by facilitating convenient parking for a customer,
Provide revenue stream which could be used to support enforcement ,future project or
both ,
Enhance the visitor experience with available street parking near street –level businesses
Complement the urban character for development by encouraging timely then over of
space.
9. CHALLENGES OF CAR PARKING IN DILLA TOWN
1,Increased number of motor& cars:
2,Inadequacy of parking spaces.
3,Rapid urbanization.

CASE STUDY
Cardiff City Centre
Locations: Cardiff City Centre
• Cardiff city center is one of the most successful shopping hubs in the
UK with a huge footfall. An efficient parking policy can ease the
congestion and externalities for this area.
• A thorough study of people’s parking behavior can directly contribute
to the parking policy making for Cardiff Council
