2. A shot that there is a link between
lyrics and /or music and visuals
• In this shot Adele is saying
‘Don’t underestimate the things
that I will do’ In this screenshot
you will see an individual about
to start making some kind of art
in a very unique manner. I
believe that this links the lyrics
and the visual effects together
very well because adele is
talking about abnormal acts
and this is what we are seeing.
3. A shot that typifies the way a record
company would want their artist to be
represented.
• In this shot it really does represent
what the record company wants
adele to come across to the public.
The way they want her to be
represented is in a calm and neat
manor with no sexual attraction
attached to the artist. Usually in the
music industry they uses sexuality
to there advantage. In this music
video you see adele siting down
and singing. This is what the
record company want, they want to
get the message across that the
attraction level of artists doesn't
have a effect on the success of the
artist.
4. A shot that illustrates how
your video uses music genre
• The way in which my chosen
genre is connected to this
video ( my chosen genre being
soul ) is the simplicity of
Adele’s performance. All that
she is doing is sitting and
singing and this happened a lot
when the soul genre was a lot
larger. You would have one
person singing and that was it.
5. A shot that shows an intertextual reference ( an
image we have seen in another text already - a
film, tv show or other music video )
• This shot is a reference to the
video the we made where we
were chucking paint at Jamal.
In this shot you can see that
they are throwing items at a
white wall. The deeper
meanings that are created in
this shot are mainly talking
about the concept of tough
love.
6. A shot that demonstrates
your use of camera
• The use of camera in this shot
can be linked back to our piece
quiet easily. As you can see we
have the character in centre
frame to draw in the viewers to
the character. We did this all
the way through are video. Also
the use of the long shot really
was capitalised in our video
also.
7. A shot that demonstrates
your use of lighting
• In this shot the use of lighting is
very obvious. As you can see
in the background you have a
large white light shining down
on the character. This is
creating a shadow around the
character and therefore
enhancing the rest of the image
to be brighter. In our video we
used the lighting of Jamal to
our advantage at all times.
8. A shot that demonstrates
your use of mise-en-scene
• In this shot we have the
drummer facing away from the
camera. The reason why this is
in the video is because it is a
meaning that he is trapped in
the deep and that his face will
be hidden. We also know this
by his clothes being black.
Black in many cultures is
known for being unknown. In
our music video the clothing of
our characters was really
important.
9. Two shots which you feel demonstrates
something which show you had watched
other music videos
• In these two shot types we
used a lot in our actually video.
These shots being the close up
and the establishing shot. We
used the close up shot a lot
because we wanted to
enhance the facial expressions
of our character Jamal. And the
establishing shot will always be
important to set the scene for
the video.
